I don't know if anyone else feels the same, but I love that half second of silence before Godzilla lets out its atomic breath for the first time at 1:35. I think it makes the ensuing devastation feel just that much more haunting.

That line “she doesn’t look Mexican either” was a shot at the studio for casting Heston in that role where Welles wanted a more authentic actor. Your analysis falls way short. Gotta ask, did you even watch the movie?

people talk about the atom bombs but even besides that, firebombings killed hundreds of thousands of people across most major cities in japan, and left millions homeless. this movie came out 9 years later. the people in the theater lived this scene.

too bad they glossed over Rock. he deserved the oscar. he was the main transition throughout the movie and it was really seen from his eye. Dean was a cartoon character.

Here is an observation. He identified with Richard Dreyfuss and wanted to date Terri Garr. Moments later he left his wife for Kate Capshaw who is also a known dirty blond.

It's a beautiful song. It is my most favourite song in Wizard of Oz of all time and it is one of my favourite 1930s films of all time as well. I've watched Wizard of Oz loads of times and it's absolutely fantastic. This song and the film never get old. They will always be timeless classics. I am listening to it from Ireland 🇮🇪.

I only saw Ishtar for the first time a few years ago. I'm a Gen-Xer, and I remember when it was released and how it was immediately dubbed one of the worst films ever made by so many critics, so I just assumed that it was terrible and never saw it. But when I finally did watch it, I thought it was actually laugh out loud funny. It's not like it's a movie ahead of its time. It would have been just as funny in 1987 had I seen it then. In retrospect, the critical reaction to this movie is baffling. There was definitely an agenda against it, and it shows how the pack mentality of the professional critical establishment works.
