What a beautiful space. Just curious...I don't see a fence. How do you keep the deer out of it?
@axesandaprons8 күн бұрын
Thank you 😊 I guess we are just lucky! The deer stay away from our living space. We see them in the woods and behind our chicken coop but not near the garden. We are always going back and forth with a fence because of our dogs actually 😅

This is a very simple lesson for all gardeners. I learned very quickly when I started my first vegetable garden that committing time to tend it was essential for success. When I was working full time it was challenging to make the time to garden and it had a negative impact as weeds and insects take over fast. Now that I am retired I have the luxury of spending more time gardening. Better for me and the plants!

Hi there, thanks for the review of this woodstove. I wanted to ask you about cooking on it, as its a very efficient heater, does it get too hot to cook on the stove top? how do you get around the cooking without burning yourself? Many thanks xx
@axesandaprons10 күн бұрын
@blissfulidiot9856 it’s great for cooking. You can’t stand in front of it but you can stand just fine to the side. I never burn myself. Sometimes when it’s really cold out and we can’t afford to not have a hot hot fire I wear an apron as an extra barrier for my legs especially if I’m working all around it and need to pass the front several times 😊

@@normaaustin845I recommend getting ones that lay a decent amount of eggs, like the Plymouth Rock, or the Rhode Island Red. For some variety, get some Cochins and ones that lay blue/ green eggs, like Easter and olive eggers

He puts himself into that position. It’s just stretch. He does have arthritis and occasionally we will give him medicine if we think he needs relief. Since moving to the woods though he hasn’t needed one. I wonder if there is something to “grounding!”

Great stuff;I have used a very similar A frame contraption ,dragging posts with a horse.The legs on the frame were about 3 feet long,so it didn’t tip over.There was a groove on the underside to accomodate the chain,which went underneath the front of the Y section and up behind the cross piece and around the log or posts or whatever and snigged back onto the chain itself,so the chain was always in tension when pulling. The chain going underneath also gave some upward lift to the front when in motion.It worked very well and was very easy on the horse. A couple of sticks in those chain holes meant that I could pile up a load of posts,throw the chain around them,then under and up and away you go.😊God bless.
@axesandaprons2 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment! My husband read through it and thought it was a great idea. We were thinking longer legs would help because we do have tipping problems with larger logs. Horses are in our future and we definitely want to use them for this!

Winter seems to be winding down here in Wisconsin, temperatures are fluctuating wildly from teens to the fifties. Neighbors have started tapping their maple trees. Do you collect maple sap and make your own syrup ?
@axesandaprons3 ай бұрын
It is here, too. It’s quite back and forth! We currently do not tap. I’m not sure it’s worth the time! It takes so much sap and makes so little syrup. We only have a few maples. Though, the experience of knowing how may be worth it.

I know a lot of people who got the shot and I don’t know anyone who hasn’t gotten the virus. My daughter is a type 1 diabetic and she did very well with it, just like a little cold. I knew she would because we have kept her healthy and strong. It should have always been the individuals choice.
