I think lae'zel is default. If Lae'zel is in your active party, then someone else will get kidnapped.

The dialogue is really in the game, but it is the romance party banter that is currently bugged. It is supposed to be fixed in patch 7.

My whole channel is fan edits. They are new, but not in the game. KZfaq is pretty unforgiving for what the titles need to be. Trust me, my old titles were different and no one watched the videos. It's part of the algorithm game unfortunately. I'm not trying to be deceptive. Like I said, they are new and it take a lot of effort to make these. Apologies if you are only interested in things that are in the game without mods. My channel is trying to tell the story and I use fan edits to fill in the blanks. I consider this my fan fiction of what is happening in between the cut scenes.

@@GaviAncunin Maybe you could then add somewhere at the end of the title that these are mods. I have nothing against mods, but when you watch a video in the hope that it's game content, and in the end it turns out that it's mods, it's disappointing. She probably doesn't care. Also, I think when Gale dies in the game, like dies in combat or something, he doesn't blow up. I think he needs to "release" it. I could be wrong though.

If Gale dies in game, his hologram says you have 3 days to revive him before he blows up. If you still haven't revived him after 3 sleeps, you get a cut scene of Gale's dead body exploding & then Game Over. So! Orin can kill Gale, and then dump Gale's body in Balder's Gate. 3 days later, boom! The end of Gortash & the city.

Same with me. For this story, I think Gale is the rival to Astarion, so I sent him off. But for normal playthrough, it was lae'zel for me too l.

​@@GaviAncunin Oh thank god! I thought Laurian was actively ruining their own character (with Astarion not wanting anything sexual at this point) just to please a few fans. Nothing against you, of course. This being something fanmade makes it something else entierly.

So, I suppose it is up to interpretation if Astarion wants things sexual after he kills Cazador. In the graveyard, he does say he wants to experience all of life and at the drow twins he consensually joins you. You could play it that Astarion stays Ace the rest of the game or that he wants to be with his partner only. I interpret it that he wants to be with his partner, hence the extra scenes. I think keeping him Ace or not are both valid though. At the end, I plan on making a video essay on why Astarion is important to me. From my tramatic past, it is important that he tries it again, for reasons I'll explain in that video. BUT I think it is equally important that he CAN remain Ace to give representation to the Ace community; that is important too.

Which part, where he tries to stab you? You have to fail a perception check. If you have high perception, you probably succeed and he won't grab you.

I also think it is fine to enjoy AA as a character for the sake of being a character. I also think AAs dialogue can be very funny, like Minthara. I love running with Astarion and Minthara: they are hilarious to me. :)

True. Apparently the romance banter is bugged right now and will be fixed in patch 7.

You can always reload act 3 and play again if you want. I did something similar with Karlach. I turned her into a mindflayer because I thought it was the only way for her to live, but it isn't. Going to try the other options for Karlach and Wyll that I missed on my first playthrough.

@@GaviAncunin I've done it with mu first play though which was me messing around and stuff on easy mode. I'm currently doing a druid play though (never played druid before) and I'm hoping to get the happy ending where everyone is alive and fine

I am personally not fond of AA. I don't want to take the fun away from people who like the pure evil side of him, but it's not my preference. Especially if you play Dark Urge. I don't think he should be able to boss around or intimidate the incarnate god of murder without push back.

@@user-ry1dq5uh8b I'm going to respectfully disagree. First, there's no proof anywhere that he now has limitless power. He gets a few new buffs. He can 'hear' the night, but can't talk to it. He can turn into a bat. We can assume that this changes later into calling on wolves and turning into mist. And that's about it. Besides what the ascension ritual gives him by way of walking in the sun, eating, reflection and physical pleasure. Still not what I'd call limitless power. Stake through the heart or radiant spells will still take out or damage him. Death of his tormentor can still be achieved through the spawn route. 'Free in every sense.' No, he's not free to be his true self. Not free to love Tav or Durge (vampire lords and masters do not feel love, cannot feel love, and this is pointed out time and again by AA. He tells you he loves you because that's what you want to hear, but he doesn't feel it. If you break up with him, he tells you he would have ground your love and trust down to dust, and he's telling the truth here without any fear of Tav leaving him), he moves back into the Crimson Palace, the place of his torment, in replacement of Cazador, not as a triumph over him, he loses the power to form real connections and friendships (re: the epilougue party where he won't go and talk to the companions, refers to them as Tavs' 'so called friends,' and wants Tav to spy on them for him). Again, his abilities are quite negligible as far as providing complete safety is concerned. Yes he remembers who was beside him - and now wants to dominate & control them. That's a major shift in the relationship, going from equal footing to a massive shift in the power dynamics, with him in control. The attitude isn't slightly arrogant - it's completely off the scale. He now sees you as lesser. As a toy. A possession. God forbid you should disagree with him - ever. He calls you stupid for doing so. I don't know about you, but if the person I loved called me stupid, in that tone, I'd be reconsidering the whole relationship at that point. He doesn't care if you accept him now or not. Not from that perspective. He want's you to accept him as above you. As his 'master', even if that's not explicitly stated. Not in a 'accept me with all my flaws as a whole person' type of way. He is not omnipotent - that's the realm of the gods, and he's no god, just a slightly more powerful vampire. He does not know everything, nor does he know what others are thinking. I agree, however, that he may be lonely. All vampires are, to a certain extent, a good example is Strahd. However, look at what Strahd does with his consorts. He's with them for awhile, becomes bored with them and discards them for the next flavour of the week. Astarion has already hinted that he's planning on taking more spawn. You'd be his favoured one for the moment ... but immortality is a long time, who's to say he wouldn't grow bored with you in a few years and you're shuffled off to the side as he becomes infatuated with someone new? AA vs SA. AA is SA's worst traits, amplified. Not only that, all his good qualities he did gain along the way while travelling with you disappear. SA is a more whole version, because while he has gained better traits when it comes to you and your friends, he hasn't lost his murder hobo streak, his brutality, and I believe he'd display both dom/sub traits in the bedroom, as compared to just the dub he'd have as AA. Sorry for the essay, and we're all entitled to our opinion, I just wanted to express mine here along beside yours 😊
