I think that Astarion has a turning point in the confessions scene. He understands that he can allow the feelings that he was not allowed to have under Cazador (pity, compassion, love). This scene is important in order to better understand the good ending. the SA continues to allow itself these feelings 😢❤

This is why I don't understand how anyone could even consider Halsin's proposition or sleep with the drow twins after reassuring Astarion that Tav loves him and not being able to have sexy times often (if at all) is not a deal breaker - they'll stay with him, regardless. Even if Astarion gives his blessing for Tav to get some side action - it robs that earlier heart felt reassurances of all meaning if Tav sleeps with someone else.

Agreed. It feels like they sacrificed his character in the name of additional polyamory when it comes to Halsin in particular The Drow twins he does actively dissociate during the encounter if he's there Haarlep he disapproves of you sleeping with and is the only one to express empathy regarding the repercussions (and tbh that encounter feels incredibly rapey so it feels like there should have been a stronger reaction on his part after if not during) They're supposedly reworking his reaction to you cheating with Mizora to include a line that says _"even I deserve better than this."_ The entire point of his spawn plotline is overcoming abuse, breaking cycles, and learning that sex and relationships can be more than just a means to an end with the right person Having the right person turn around and treat sex like it's a means to an end (and possibly involves the local wildlife) undermines that. Even ascended Astarion it doesn't make a lot of sense given he views sex as a way to have power over people and is extremely possessive of Tav and their body

To be fair, there are dev notes that indicates Astarion is fine with Halsin because Halsin understands and respects the dynamics of a poly relationship and that he'll respect that Astarion and Tav come first. There's no concern of things getting weird or competitive because Halsin's not in it for the same reasons Astarion and Tav are. It's also why he tells Tav that they'll have to end things with one of the other companions because he knows they won't be able to handle a poly situation. With the drow twins, it's his first time freely exploring that kind of encounter post-Cazador which is the only time the game lets you be with Astarion and someone else in the same encounter. It's not quite the same situation as the idea of Tav being with Halsin as well as him. Halsin's also an abuse survivor himself so theoretically he'll also likely be understanding of Astarion's comfort levels if that were to ever be an issue going forward.

@@belad0nna However - whether he's ascended, remains a spawn or is in a relationship with Tav, Astarion still disassociates in the moment with the drow twins. He never enjoys the moment. Even when he says he's okay with the idea, the description as it plays out shows he really isn't - he's just doing it for tav's sake; so everyone during the drow sex scene (with the exclusion of Astarion) is only doing it for their own personal gratification.

That's a realistic outcome of his healing process, finding out (albeit the hard way) that maybe he's not as ready as he initially though for that activity or maybe it's something that doesn't suit him after all. I would agree though that it really sucks that the player isn't given an option to help him in that instance which I imagine a supportive partner would. As I said though, a poly relationship involving Halsin isn't quite the same situation. Halsin even tells Tav at some point that he's not looking for commitment, he's just a very free individual who follows his desires wherever they take him. Again this all comes from the dev notes that indicates Astarion's completely fine with the idea of Tav also sleeping with Halsin; that doesn't necessarily mean there's an expectation that all three will sleep together at some point. I presume because at the point in the game where Halsin propositions you, you and Astarion are pretty solid so there's no concern on his part or fear or him agreeing to it just because he doesn't want to lose Tav, especially if you complete Astarion's quest before Halsin propositions you. At least in terms of spawn Astarion, anyway. Ascended Astarion is a narcissist among other things and probably relishes that he can make Tav end it at any point because he's always going to be the more powerful of the two. He's not going to feel threatened either by a fling with someone else.

@@belad0nna I mean the devs can note all they want but it feels like reaching to me. Which is, obviously, just my personal opinion. Halsin seems to almost immediately be open to the idea of monogamy the one time I tested his romance. And as for his experience... I can't say they portrayed his handling of relationships well at all. in my playthrough I spoke to Halsin once at a party and told him not to stand by himself all night. I largely avoided talking to him after that and then in act 3 he proclaimed I treated him like a lover. As for Halsin's abuse - the male Drow was _also_ a victim of sexual abuse in the underdark - it's the main reason he and his sister left for the surface. Halsin meanwhile treats his abuse like it was just a learning experience. Something that happened but it's over now and he picked up some things from it so. There may be some overlap but Halsin's attitude and the type of abuse he experienced seems lightyears away from what Astarion's _currently_ going through. Astarion is portrayed as someone who has been forced to use his body transactionally for 200 years and never had anyone value it or care about what he wanted. He immediately becomes concerned that the reason you're seeking Halsin is because he and Tav aren't having sex - and if the answer is no then I'm not sure what he'd supposed to be telling himself you're seeking Halsin out for. But either way the fact that he thinks that at all is a major red flag that they just kind of brush under the rug with a "nah he's fine with it" Between this oddness and Haarlep it honestly just feels like Larian dipped their toes into the realm of consent and abuse and then gave up toward the end because polyamory is a thing they promised people so they better deliver

This is so much, more then before. It is a tribute to all the hard emotional work Neil did, to express Astarion's truth's, And feelings for his Story. And what has happened to him, to make him so broken, and yet still so strong to not shrink, despite all of his past, and Cazadore's miscalculated, abusive, amusement, in his most cruel Manipulation's, to train Astarion to do what he wanted. The strength in his Character, to refuse the impulses planted within him, to obey the Master. As the monster wished to, in Mary Shelly's Frankenstein, as the monster breaks his Masters, wishes, to display an undead mind torn, between living and dead, tho beautiful forever wild Rebellious child. And unfailing devotion to be free, and happy if only one night Spawn could break free, from the horrible existence he was forced into. A complete Vampire in this instance, perhaps he could be his own Master? Larian writer's have rewrote the original. They gave the monster a beautiful body, and face of a boyish angel, and Neil gave him a sense of freedom the boy had never had before Cazador Czar took him from the Gur that night, and made him his obedient living doll, that would entrap and capture for him, the souls needed for his profane Ritual sacrifice. Tho this beautiful monster was to break free of his creator, and be free of the force that held him, and his freedoms to decide, and gain for himself, what he wanted. Till a kind giving Soul, broken kindred spirit, would give him a chance, to see him differently, and extend something he never expected, or ever saw coming, someone to love him, trust in him even, and someone he could trust in, and love in return. Something most monster's can't fathom, tho novel, something for him real, and completely beautiful, as he truly can be. The Spawn, allowed a second chance, to live again, tho not alone, with a person who could love him, for everything he is, and appreciate everything he can be. It depends on the person. Master or Monster They really are no different... It is in the perception and misinterpretation, to the latter. Or letter. Misunderstanding' in Vampire lore that is miscommunicated thru time, that leads Faerun to unjustly think of the monster never surpassing his Master, and not becoming the thoughtless monster that people assumed him to only be, so Astarion began to believe he was as well, cruelty of the Vampire Lord's self centered wants become obsessive, consumption. even Cazador is not fully seen as a disgusting parasite, in Baldures gate. And perfectly acceptable for his monstrous conclusions. By the tiny throngs willing to be ruled over by a Dictator, and too weak minded to realize they already were. tho Astarion could, and had nothing but contempt, for fools who would allow a Vampire Lord to rule over them. If Ass ended he can only see all the things he could have, and more, but no longer able to think about others, he is exactly the monster the people fear, in the Mind Flayers. And how close they are to finding another monster worse then ever before, because of the pull endless power has. But not the deviation of heartless ambition creates... Just one bite, and it's over... I would have killed your love... You further degrade yourself being with me... You will be nothing to me. As opposed to I want you, I love this and I want it all with you. You were patient, kind, you trusted me, which was an objectively stupid thing to do, it was so much more then that you believed in me. I love you, and everything that we can have together, Equally. Spawny Stari is also thankful, to the person he fell in love with, who understands him more then any other. I hated you when we first met, I didn't appreciate you at the time, but I do now. Whatever time we have together, because there's always unpredictable death around every corner with you, but I know I want this, I love you, and I don't want anything to change what we can have, in a future that doesn't guarantee anything for anyone. Is this what you want? I want you. This precious moment in time, of complete freedom, and you... Stari eyed Angel, lit by moon beams. You are the most beautiful person who ever could be. His Stari beginning's With you. As you hold his hand, and find a safe path into the shadows, he smiles, bathed in moons incandescent glow. A amazing, loving angel stands before you, gently beckoning you on into the complete unknown passages, that will lead somewhere to call home. You grasp his hand in yours, and smile back. Then take him around, and kiss him passionately, before leaving the land above, not a care what awaits you, only that that unforseen relationship with a Vampire has come true, only he's no longer the petulant spoiled young noble you thought he was at the start, with dark intent, he was now your partner, mischief still appears in the glint of his red eyes, tho now it's a shared sparkle, and your dreams are flourishing before you both. Thru awakened new eyes... As you take him rushing on, the light behind shields him from the sunstar, that welcomed Dawn, now moons face, protects, and guilds you, as you decend once more into velvet darkness, surrounded by cavernous phosphere, and new crystalline prism's. You realize upon your own reflection, you are excited, and content, with the man you adore, and no matter what, may follow, together you will meet it, and if necessary defeat it. He is your heart, and you gave him a reason to live again. Let the planet swallow you, up. Stari and you will make the best of whatever is in front of you. Together you laugh off the jubilation leading your resolve. Anxious together to find home, as the cavern is twinkling welcome, memory. Tho now for him and you, possibility that never existed before. And instead of the chill of distance, you feel warm, and even expected, as you both decend thru, to a new experience together. He hasn't let go of your hand. It's now up to you two, to have a journey alone together in an under dark, that is anything then the dark you expected... It is absolutely, magnificent. And beautiful, and you are together, with him, and you both are completely free... And not regretting your decision, you both have found complete bliss, in knowing you finally found home... ❤️‍🩹🗡️🗡️ 🩸

To get this. You first have to make a deal with Raphael to kill the Orthon within the temple of Shar. You kill the Orthon. Long rest, and Raphael will tell Astariin the meaning of his scars. Then you go inside moonrise towers. Don't talk to anyone (avoid Araj). Just take a long rest. Then, this cut scene will happen.

You have to do the Orthon or Araj, both will let you continue relationship into act 3.

It is one of the "bad" choices. You get it when you make him sleep with you after he says he doesn't want to. I wanted something to show the transition from their time together to this conversation, so I edited it to just be a short clip of it and used some different angles. To actually get the scene is pretty depressing though, I won't lie!

@@sistersamich2075 It is definitely not enthusiastic consent! He goes along with it, but later tells you he "didn't know how to say no" and breaks up with you. Later, he says he will never forgive you. It is very sad. :(

To get the first part, talk to Raphael in the last light in with Astarion in the party. Then go to the temple of Shar to get the quest from Raphael to kill the Orthon (make sure Astarion is in the party) kill the orthon, take a long rest. Raphael will explain the scars. Go inside moonrise towers. Save the game. Take a long rest without talking to anyone inside moonrise; you will get the first cut scene. You can then reload your save. Talk to Araj and don't make Astarion bite her. Take a long rest. You will get the second cut scene. You can't normally get them both, but I edited them together so you can see the outcome of both. Also, you have to be "dating" Astarion in Act 1. To do that, you have to spend the night with him sometime, either before, during or after the party.

@@GaviAncunin i have just one more question for you! its my first time playing, and, there is the task for astarion with cazador, but i would need to go to baldurs gate, but at the same time but the night guard is telling me to stay there and fight general thorm, but i have too little level to do that. if go to baldurs gate may i return later or i have to kill the general and myrkul now? any help will be very appretiated!!

You need to get the quest from Raphael in the last light in with Astarion in your party. Kill the orthon inside the Shar temple, then take a long rest. Raphael translates the scars for Astarion. Then. Go to moonrise towers and take a long rest inside the towers without talking to Araj first. That will get you the first set of dialogue. Good luck!

During the actual playthrough of the scene, if you insist he sleep with you after he says he doesn't want to, there is this scene, then he breaks up with you. I just cut a bit from that in the beginning to show that the two of them have been together and that he is feeling bad about deceiving tav/dark urge, not using the scene for the content, just the beginning visual.

If you kill the orthon (Raphiel quest), go into moonrise and short rest before you talk to Araj, you will get the first part.

Oh, apologies, I did edit this all together to make it narratively make sense to have both Araj and pre-Araj. I didn't show the hug in the first one to save it for the second one. This is a fan edit, it doesn't naturally happen like this in the game. Sorry for the confusion.

Can this cutscene be un triggered bc of sleeping with gale ?

I think if you sleep with Gale, you'll trigger the conversation where you have to either pick Gale or Astarion to be "partnered". If you pick Gale, you are no longer "dating" Astarion and the confession scene won't happen. I've never done it. But I think that is what happens.

You should be able to get one of the two. I edited both options together. In the game, you only get one or the other.
