The 'ti' is an abbreviation for touring international.I'm not entirely sure why BMW decided to badge them this way,but it sounds cool.

Something i am wondering with plug in hybrids. Is how much they cost to charge and how many times do tou charge them per tank. I am lookong to change from a 2018 2.4L mitsubishi l200 getting 28mpg average

How longs a piece of string? You just can’t say. Scenario 1: you only drive 10-12 miles per day, charging when you return home after every journey. You’d (in theory) never need fuel. Scenario 2: You drive 300 miles per day, the first 10 miles or so mostly on electric then switching to the ICE for the majority of the journey. You’d be filling a tank of fuel for every charge. So in other words, less you use the car, shorter journeys you do, far more will be on electric. More miles you do, more fuel you will use. Hope that helps.

@@FastandFun I live in Norfolk so cover quite a few miles daily in my personal vehicle. Luckily I have a company van for work now Typically I do a 64 mile round trip a few evenings a week. Another evening often a 30 mile round trip. A few mornings per week I do 16 mile round trip to drop my son off. Then Sunday often out and about and finish with a 25 mile round trip taking him to his gym class. Then a few times a year we head off with our caravan in tow to Cornwall or somewhere. Which is 370 miles. Spend a week driving around there and then the long tow home again. Would you think I would be better just sticking with a diesel or petrol car in this instance. My truck is a 68 plate and what £ I expect to get for it I would be looking at somewhere between 2014 -2017 phev's having looked on auto trader and ones that are big enough for my family's needs. I plan on only spending the money I get for the truck on a replacement vehicle I do not want finance on a brand new vehicle.

@@steviemayo2076 there’s a niche market for PHEVs. Family that live in a large town or city, spend much of the time doing short journeys (on electric) but want the flexibility to drive long journeys without any range anxiety. I dont see that with you. I’d suggest that a good modern diesel or petrol would serve you better. You have to remember that when on petrol your driving a round with 200kg of dead battery in the boot with a PHEV.

Im keeping it to reduce pumping losses and installed an air-oil separator in series with an oil catch can to prevent sludge from gunking up the intake

EGR redirects CO2 to intake to displace oxygen to lower combustion temps; only under low manifold pressure conditions. It makes your engine last longer; use a catch can to reduce sludge.

Had mine 11 months now. 2011 Tdv8. Agree with everything you say. Other than servicing I have spent £1000 on tyres (only because they were old - 3x 2014 and 1x2011, must have been the original spare). £450 on a starter motor, £550 to replace a failed ABS sensor. They are heavy as you say, you really have to change your driving style as regards braking I have found. Do I regret it? Not one bit.

I just had my check engine light come on the other day and ran the code and got a new EGR valve because that was what it said the problem was, but after seeing this and all these comments, I’m not quite sure if it’s better to just unplug the damn thing💀

Agree with everything you have said, the ‘feeling’ etc is priceless. In the words of Matt from HP Autos ‘you either get it or you don’t’….and I do! Mine is a modest 2005 TD6 with 216k currently on the clock and is used daily. If I want speed I just put it in sport and watch it go from 0-60 in 6mins! It does everything I need, serviced regularly (gearbox annually) and when it breaks I just get it fixed. Looking forward to your‘journey’

Thanks for the video. Just started my 4th year of ownership in my 2012 AB 4.4 TDV8. Regularly use for long trips across UK and Europe. Loads of preventative maintenance to keep in good order. 2nd turbo always gets a work out once warmed up. Just fitted a set of General Grabber AT3 tyres. These cars don't make financial sense, they are expensive, but knew that when I bought it. It's a great vehicle, fun to drive and wouldn't be without it! Look forward to the next video!

How much is the resale value of these PHEVs? I am very afraid that after 6-7 years of use no one will buy them as 3rd, 4th... owners considering the cost for batter replacement or decreased capacity
@FastandFun
@FastandFun 11 күн бұрын
It’s a good question. Only time will tell but all PHEVs and EVs suffer from harsh depreciation because of the uncertainty over battery life. Consumer confidence is low.

I have the 3.0 TD6 version (2002 model), so one of the first to roll off the production line. Had it 10 years, spent a fair bit (including new gearbox) and it’s in pristine condition, fully rustproofed every year. I rive it to the Alps every winter for ski season, on winter tyres, and it’s unstoppable on steep snow covered roads (unless I want it to, obviously.) There’s a vid of it on my channel.

I bought my 2012 L322 in September last year. One owner from new (my MD’s) and it’s the best car I’ve ever owned. Plenty of trips across country and through the Lakes and I couldn’t imagine enjoying driving anything as much as a daily. They’re a fantastic drive and the L322 was the last true Range Rover imo. Everything after is just aimed at the ultra luxury market! Also, the reason the buttons/dials are so big, is because it was designed to be used with gloves on.. Now that’s design for practicality.

Like you I am looking for something that has been looked after and has good history. Thanks for some good info 👍
