I fast forward through the ads and as soon as I see the first one, I make a mental note that the creator has sold out and to not trust another thing that they say. I will still watch their videos, but they become strictly entertainment with zero reliable/unbiased knowledge. I know it sounds harsh, but it’s happened to every single creator that’s gone down that path. I’d much rather see you selling merch or doing labeled sponsor videos that are separate from your normal content. Dedicated videos clearly labeled as an advertisement, about the sponsors product or service. Is a little bit(maybe a lot?) of cash worth your reputation as an authoritative resource? Only you can answer that.

I have a story that went the exact opposite way, i had to fork out the cash, because i didnt take pictures. I was setting the fixtures in an newly remodeled house for a customer we have done lots of work for. I had just finished hooking up the dishwasher as the last fixture, turned on water, tested everything for leaks and told the customer we were done but the electricians need to hook up the wlectrical to dishwasher. About a week later, i get a call that the customers kitchen is flooded, amd the crawlspace is sitting full of water. The electricians could not pull the dishwasher out enough with water line connected, so they took it off themselves, and crossthreaded it when putting it back on and of course, mever checked for leaks after turning the water back on. Because i didnt take pictures for proof, i got stuck with the bill. The customer was cool and helped out after i told him the situation, and even told me he asked the electricians first because he knew me and told them " i know "me" wouldnt dp that, hes been doing plumbing with his dad since he was a small child", but since we had no proof, the electrician told us to stiff ourselves. TAKE PICTURES OF EVERYTHING.

Yes, do your ads, but do not accept any free products from your sponsor. Buy them yourself and tell your viewers that fact. Your viewers will know you See serious about said product.

I was working for a division of Halliburton back in 1972 when OSHA was first enacted. The company put one employee on compliance full time. Now we had just about every possible workplace hazard there is. We had explosive charges both high explosives and low explosives, we had sealed radioactive sources, one was a high level gamma source and the other was an americium-beryllium neutron source. We had every hazard possible including explosive atmosphere, high voltage electrical hazards, radiofrequency hazards, and cables under high tension. Our guy tried his best to bring us into compliance. But the things he came up with were largely stupid and not really important. We spent time, going all over the show labeling every outlet with 60 hertz, and 120 volts. That was because in the electrical shop we also had direct current outlets, and 400 cycle outlets. We went to great lenghts painting black and yellow stripes on two thresholds that were 1 and a half inches high. We did start having safety meetings at each well site. But never were the obvious real hazards dealt with. The company did have procedures for safely loading explosives, and handling radioactive sources. We were acutely aware of cable hazards, tripping hazards, falling objects, electrical shock hazards etc. The attitude in the oilfield back in those days was something to behold. Texaco operated their own inland waterways rigs. Their rigs were old and not well maintained. Texaco actually painted lines on the decks so that workers would know that they couldn't step there because the deck was so rusted out that you would fall through. I was actually on a job on a Texaco rig when a guy had be killed on the previous shift. The guy died because the guy on the monkey board dropped a hammer on his head. A hammer that should have been tied off to the rig. Funny how a five pound hammer will kill you when they fall 90 feet. Texaco just had the guy's body moved out of the way so they could finish coming out of the hole. They then put his body on the foredeck of the crew boat and sent him in to the dock with the normal crew change. Later, I worked for a company under the Mine Safety and Health Administration. The inspect on site every time they get a complaint. We had one employee who was a union activist. She filed over 40 complaints against the company in one year. Every time they came, they issued a fine. $100 for a mechanic leaving a cover off a trash can. $50 for some other trivial violation. The company paid $30,000 in fines in one year with none being over $200. The straw that broke the camel's back was a complaint about overhangs on the pit wall. The company had people rappel down the pit and measure every "overhang." They found 30 "0verhangs", none were more than 3 inches. The company appealed and lost. But while that appeal was pending. MSHA stood down. The fine was less than they had paid.

So my husband works in a job that has a security clearance. So his computer can not be gone through by just anyone at his company and if he does allow just anyone on his computer, not only will he be fired, he will loose his job and possibly serve jail time. Even if his direct supervisor or his bosses bosses boss asks to get on his computer he has to say no. My husband does not know if that person has lost their security clearance in the last ten minutes. If his computer needs to be gone through or needs maintenance he must take it to a specific department within the company, and they have to open the computer with their master code. So yes there are some instances that a company computer can not just be handed over on demand. At a small business the owner of that computer has all rights to the device. No questions asked (unless they are a contractor for places like the military, nuclear power plants, or places that are contracted with an NDA.) In your case, after this incident, I would highly suggest to have a contract written up stating that these computers, phones, and other devices are the companies property and you reserve the right to inspect, upgrade, monitor, and maintain the device at any time. Also you need to put in there that the worker is responsible to keep the device in good working order and to bring the device to you at any point if there is a problem and not try to fix it themselves. I would also highly suggest putting in there that there is to be zero tolerance for illegal or explicit behavior on any of these devices. (This because if one of your employees were to receive 'images' of a young lady and come to find out later she was under 18, this could come back on you for possession of child p**nography. That clause will be able to help you if something like that ever does happen. (Just a suggestion)

As far as the question on doing short commercials during the videos is absolutely fine with me. The way I see it is most KZfaq videos are very informative and teach people whatever at no cost to the viewers and as the creator given out valuable information you all deserve to profit for your time and information. So yes do the short commercials

James I just found and watched your video about the Dingdong messing with his water pressure and exploding his system not to mention all the damage done to the home. 😂😂😂😂 That was a great story. Something tells me this isn't the first sly thing this guy has tried to pull. I'm glad you were able to figure it out and call him out on it. If that was me I would have called you to ask if it was possible to get more water pressure. After you explained to me about the things needed to be changed to properly achieve higher pressure and the extra money it will cost me I would probably ponder on it while getting used to how it is. 😂😂 Not to mention he probably short life his water pump. Who knows how long it was like that before it exploded

Make that money! As many have said I prefer it be a product you will stand by and not just any random stuff. I've seen some pretty creative and funny ad promos on other channels so it would be a good chance to do something different for the channel too. I'd much rather have ads that way than the random garbage KZfaq runs for its ads.

I've had the opposite experience. Employer comes to me, says they need 2 huge chilled water / hot water air handlers removed and replaced with different ones, and a custom drain system designed and built in the basement all up and running in 2 weeks. Me being the dumb ass says well, I'll need to work straight starting now and proceed to work 40 hours straight before any sleep then 18 hour days until done. I had coworkers too but only 1 other worked as long as me and he still took 8 hours to sleep out of 2 days. I did so much pipe fitting, reaming, propress, mechanic work, drilling holes and wiring that I broke off a fragment of bone in my hand. I got it done, and scored an additional 30K of profit for the company. the kicker, after working that 100 plus hour week and taxes taken out, was just an extra thousand or two like 2 paychecks in one week, totally not worth it, not worth the pain, x rays of my hand, that to this day my finger on my right hand locks up now and again, not worth it at all. Company could give a shit, I'm not even sure anyone in the company knows the magnitude of that accomplishment. Another kicker, I was the one to bring the job to them in the first place.

Any prospective customer who takes the first opportunity to abuse me for a quote over the phone automatically deletes themselves from my client list. Should I ever be called upon to give a quote to people who manage to self identify as assholes right out of the gate. I add a huge asshole tax added on to the quote. Either way I win.

I agree 100% because if you allow your employees to talk to each other about their pay, it can cause drama and other problems in the workplace and instead of the work getting done, they’re complaining about all this person’s getting paid more of that person‘s getting paid morein reality if you keep your page yourself and what’s going on and just worry about what you gotta do for work, everything will run smoothly and everybody can get along

A place for everything , and everything in its place. Good maxim. Have a standard. Each week randomly have someone, not the regular operator, go thru a truck looking for a list of stuff. If everything is in its place then it should take x amount of time. Extra time is paid in beer to all crew at a month end BBQ. Team building and compliance at one go.
