Hey I'm curious. For someone starting out (for an adult) what do people consider a "beginner" magnet. Is 400 lb pull good to start with? I was connecting with something at the pond near my town, but I couldn't get it to come up.

400 will pull up small stuff but it will struggle with items of anything more than a couple pounds.

16:11 the "cross thing" is a unuversal joint from a car. It attaches the driveshaft to the transmission & rear end.
