Another tip: oftentimes the contacts will be super tight and you can't fit the matrix around the tooth. Use a Gregg 4-5 to open the contact and it slides right on.

Great video! I would like to ask - why do the nurses have to completely rinse the mouth at the end of the procedure (obviously we get rid of the debris but we always have mouth ready for the patient to rinse)? We do things so differently in my practice (UK). This method seems like it would quite stressful to the patient, I know it would be for me anyways.
@StephanieDerfus Жыл бұрын
Definitely, patient preference! Many of my patients preferred to rinse with mouth wash themselves and spit. Others really like the full-service aspect of having every bit rinsed out.

For pouches what is the correct way to place pouches in sterilizer? Paper Side up or down?
@StephanieDerfus Жыл бұрын
In this particular sterilizer - it should be plastic side up! Another commenter mentioned I had them upsidedown. It will depend of the sterilizer.

Assistants do over filling or dentist do
@StephanieDerfus Жыл бұрын
It depends on the state dental practice act. Assistants can usually place temporary fillings in any state. In some states assistants received special training to place permanent fillings (amalgam or composite), otherwise only the dentist can place permanent fillings.

Do you dry after the bond?
@StephanieDerfus Жыл бұрын
Depends on the system. This particular one, after placing bonding, blow air gently to thin it out, then light cure for 10 seconds (depending on light intensity).
i thought you had to run them 30 seconds each time. O_O I read this either in my book, or my course i had at work

Why did you put the carver before the burnisher? Shouldn’t we put the ball burnisher first in order to smooth the amalgam then we put the carver to carve anatomy. Just curious ???
@StephanieDerfus2 жыл бұрын
Good question. I think it’s Dr. preference. I initially worked for 6yrs with a doctor who carved first. When I moved to a different state, the new doctors used the burnisher first. They burnished, carved, and burnished again.
