For those unfamiliar with this form, this is about the first third, not the entire 108.

Hi. Question please: Is this the proper Sword (S hand guard) for the Yang Form? I see people saying yang form but using regular Dao . Thank you. Also what empty hand Tai Chi would go with this please? Thank you.

I'm a little sad to see that it's only about a third of the whole 108 yang classics. Do you do it in both directions? The way I have learned, it is divided into 3 parts, and the video ended in the second part and the next move should be "turn the clouds" (a direct translation from Estonian - I've learned it in Estonia). But it is similar to our way of doing the form.

I've watched tons of Yang Long Form Tai Chi videos on KZfaq and so far this is the only one that is very similar to the form I learned. Just a few very minor differences in how we do things but overall very much the same. I've never understood why all the Yang Long Forms seem to look different from this one.

He moves very well. This form is not too far removed from that originally performed by masters like chen man ching, all the moves are recognizable (some of the moves are compressed / or two moves combined into one compound move). This is approximately 1/3 of the original full 108, which would take something between 35 and 45 minutes depending on speed of execution. The time taken here is less than a third because of the compression of several moves.

I like the lifting of the foot and placing heel ball toe and it shows clearly the empty leg. But lifting it that high surely leaves you vulnerable. I’m taught to lift it very little and place.

Tony Dailide if you are lifting your empty leg to defend your supporting leg a bit of height is a good thing .

Excellent performance, no matter which style you come from this is one of the finest examples of Taiji spirit put into a sword form. Its beauty and precision will serve as a template for anyone learning the Taiji Jian forms.
