Такая пострадавшая картина и так жёстко отдирать дублирующий холст - просто, ужасное действие.

What's the song that plays at 15:35? I've never felt so moved before but I can't seem to find it!

Also from a ship rigging point of view, whoever did that sail retouch didn't know what reef lines are supposed to look like and just added some horrible random lines.. 😞

Given the size of the bricks in the painting, thoses are some seriously huge mallards! 😀

He saved it! Again, he saved it! This borders on the sacred. Five, six, seven layers, all different, and it works. Is he the best in the world? What does that feel like? I hope he can stay grounded!

Holy crap, when Kit started it was like she wasnt even doing anything yet the image evolved and came alive, definitely showing off her skill

I loved this video, had it in my watch later for a hot minute and glad I finally got the time to watch it. I've lived in Colorado for 4 years but am moving this week. Sad to say I wasn't able to see these little guys. I've always loved to check out tide pools on the beach though, which reminds me of this!

Just amazing. Your care... attention to detail... your absolute undying love for what you do and the ability to put together something that is almost destroyed to be its beautiful self again is astounding. Will never tire of these videos and I can only hope someday I have a painting to bring to you.

The fact that you could see individual hairs in the brow only after removing the failed restoration, speaks volumes to how much of a difference there was.

How much are we talking about fo a work like this? 1k, 10k, 50k, 100k? And the final price after the restoration? Just to have a slight idea

The antique frame was pretty mangled too. Must have been huge cats. Anyway you did a great service to this painting again. It looks stunning! And the chance to put the label back again. Hope no one is so stupid as to take it off this time.

Of the two paintings I’ve watched you conserve today; the first one had freaking nails through the face of the painting and now we have this cardboard thing and Elmer’s glue? What new hell have I entered?!

Do you have do worry about metamerism when matching colours? Do you match with different light sources in mind or can you be reasonably certain a certain kind of light will be used for viewing? Or do you make sure to use the original pigments

When Julian mentioned filling in all of the tiny cracks because they would catch the light... I was reminded of a woman who was traumatized by my Surgical scars. She was so focused on my scars ... I don't believe she could tell you ANYTHING about my appearance ... other than "She Had Scars" I've always seen my scars as "Sure, I kinda wish it nice and smooth. But the surgery saved my life, so, I would rather have the fix, than an Ziploc full of bits

For context who doesnt understand why people saying betterhelp is shit. 1 they are a psychological helps company that do not have license nor regulation so they target vulnerable people 2 Because there are no quality control or licensing random therapists come and wreak a havoc in your brain worsening your condition or disease 3 They are illegally selling your medical and very sensitive informations that you share to your psychologist to outside(There is ongoing 3 class action cases against this shitty company btw related to these, they already fined 7.8 million before) 4 They still guts to stay open and advertise here.

It's so nice to see Kit working on retouching too! We KNOW you're the master, Julian, and it's really cool to have her in the spotlight as well. And you sound so proud of her - just amazing, really. You're surely a great teacher, and she's a great student. Somehow, it made ME proud of her and you, too 😂

Hi. Am Just watching the first chapter of this 3 part conversation. Without skipping steps and watching the last part, could you not have taken a picture of the area around the missing face and used AI to fill in the missing features? Then using that as a guide, create the missing face. Ok hahaha saw the second vid. But maybe if there was no reference pic, AI could fit the rest. Infact would be interesting if you did use AI method and compare to the original you obtained!!!!!
