How have I missed this concept through all the years I’ve used Photoshop? This video was just a forehead slapper for me. Thank you for extracting my cranium for me.

Your welcome... exposure blending is an essential skill to learn for digital landscapes. Especially when you start to shoot for bracketing.

I always convert the duplicate layer to a smart object so I can go in and tweak ad refine the blur amount if needed.

Thank you so much Matt for the helpful tutorial! I am just wondering if we can add a very subtle gradient from right to left to simulate the slight light fall off on the picture too? Good luck!

Yes you can certainly do that to add more realism to the shot.

This is a really good technique for when there is movement. Exposure bracketing is useful for static scenes is that the correct reasoning?.
@thegroove2000

Would you then over expose or shoot in the centre of the exposure meter?.
@Photies75

Yes correct or if you find an area in your image challenging when it comes to recapturing detail or opening up dark areas.

Seeing your only using one image I would just shoot it normally... ie exposing to the right in terms of your histogram.

Good vid Matt. I already had an orton action I created a few years ago (plus actions for blur or levels only) but I'd not thought of going the smart objects route. That's a much better way of doing it, thank you.
