Your dining room is truly beautiful, the wall color is perfect for the room. My son & DIL just bought a vintage home, over 130 years old. It needs so much restoration but I know they will work towards making it their real home. They looked hard to find a house that was not a cookie cutter house. They wanted a home with personality that they could enhance through the years. I love decorating my own home and I do not do trendy decor. I shop flea markets, thrift shops, estate sales etc. Sometimes you have to step back and realize that you have your own personal style, so embrace that and put things in your home that you love to see every single day. I just found your channel but I am subscribing now! ❤

We just moved from Tennessee to Florida, and i'm honestly kinda bummed.😕 I thought I'd be there the rest of my life..i love Tennessee! I love the seasons, especially Fall! There's nothing like it in my book😊 What area are you from? We lived halfways between Knoxville & Chattanooga, a really small country/farm town, one of many!😄 This room is beautiful, so many gorgeous pieces🤍 I'm not a new wife or first time home buyer by a long shot, but i'll tell you this.. you've done a great job decorating the room, so beautifully! And never ever be intimadated or persuaded in any way or for any reason, not that you are but just saying😊 these beautiful pieces have so much character & what a story they could tell! Personally I think we that collect & own these pieces should feel honored to have them! Bringing these pieces into our home & giving them a new life for all to see their beauty, that's a part of the love we share😊

Your dining room is beautiful! It has a calm, peaceful feel. I agree with keeping up with the Jones' or in these days keeping up with the "trends". I decorate with what I love. Yes at times it is a "trendy" item but I won't change decor everytime something new comes around. I want to be me and me is vintage and things I have had for years mixed in with some newer pieces. I'm 59 so I have seen the "trends" come and go and back again...lol.

Lovely room as is! I’d lighten the pillows and curtains first. If it’s still too dark for your eye, I’d paint the inside. Your hutch looks like a hutch that my mom left me. I did paint it and I love it. It has a curved glass front. So pretty. TFS

Yes, if you don't want to painted the whole piece, painting inside would lighten it up. Brighter pillows in chairs would also be nice.

All the points you have raised it legit and your concerns are real it resonates with me. Here is what I will suggest, the hutch is very pretty and works in your space but if the wood is making your space not as air then paint it. Our home and furniture should work for us not us work for it. So if you want it airy, paint the hutch either inside or out. It doesn’t take away from the old charm. It will be even more unique to your home and style. But remember just painting it won’t be enough, you will need to tie the colors together. I know you are reluctant to change the curtains, but consider changing them to work well with the color you pick for the hutch, that will brighten up the room. Just sit with it all and they go for what will bring you the most joy. I did something similar, bought a 1940’s Hollywood Regency credenza but it was all wood color and in perfect condition but I knew what I wanted was airy and off white and creams so I had it painted and I am so in-love with it cause it just works abd looks even better. One of a kind. No one else has my credenza in my color. It took me 2 weeks to pick color for the credenza and I will do it all over again. The whole idea is to bring in old and new to create warmth and show case your personality and style!

I would display beautiful silverware handles whether silver, silver plate or mother of pearl. 6:29 OMG I have that!!! 😂😂😂 Literally found it outside and when I saw it was hand painted I gasped and took it inside and tried my best to clean it. It also has a matching bottom part that collects the water. It was with my moms planters and stuff but she knows I’ve been pointing out to her which ones are valuable. Some of these vintage planters I’ve seen online for hundreds and on 1st dibs. I think those special ones belonged to my great grandmother.

Your ‘gray’ dog is adorable! We had a mini schnauzer when my son was growing up, 14 years, I still have a picture of him on our refrigerator. I don’t have gray walls but I have gray throw pillows, gray towels, and other miscellaneous gray decor, and I’m keeping it all. I’ve always decorated with gray, it goes with just about every color. I appreciate that you embrace your home and don’t follow the ‘trends.’

The pantry area can be a difficult area to maximize the space! This looks great! I may need to get your expert opinion on paint colors. Looking to repaint most of my main living area. (Along with some remodeling in the spring!)
