@@qubitstech was soldering the pins a pain?
@qubitstech
@qubitstech 22 сағат бұрын
I use solder paste for the pins, which I find fairly easy. I start with the pins to ensure they are aligned, then use normal solder for the legs before tidying the up the pins to remove any excess solder/bridges. Flux makes this easier if there's a lot of extra paste. Before using paste, I used to drag solder the pins. It did the job, though the clean up could take a while. If you give this a go, I would say don't be afraid to bridge the pins to begin with, but try to keep the solder as close to the pads as possible. If you get a solder bridge near the plastic housing, you'll end up melting into the plastic trying to clean it up.

Can you use that device to connect your controller to your PlayStation? I connected all of my controllers to my friends PS4 and when I tried to connect them to my PS4 using the cable that came with console the controller with blink once like it was going to charge but turn back off I would on and off when I would disconnect it and reconnect it. I’ve even tried resetting the controllers but they still don’t work, I’m hoping it will connect using the cable that came with PS4 if it doesn’t I don’t know what else I can do

Unfortunately not, the EXT port does not provide a data connection. If you're willing to open the controller, you can get replacement USB boards for a reasonable price (the USB board is separate from the main board) - just be careful plugging in the cable to the USB board.

There are 2 pins that look to be about 1.5mm tall that hold the bottom of the PCB. It's almost like it's made to intentionally break over time imo

(I have the red one lol) I’ve been having a problem with my controller. It was working just fine when I first bought it, but then after a bit it just stopped working. It just wouldn’t charge for some reason no matter how long I left it plugged in for. I haven’t used the controller for a good couple years because of that. I was never sure if it was something on the inside of the controller or the charger cord itself. And yeah, it’s the original cord for the rock candy controller. Do you have any idea as to what the problem might be??

@qubitstech 23 сағат бұрын
Sorry for the late reply, only just seen your comment. I'd check the battery voltage first of all, and if it's low, use an external charger to charge it. Check all wires etc. as it's possible a wire has come loose. It's hard to say for certain, but if it's unusable, you have nothing to lose opening it up.

Just ordered one of these off eBay, which linux distro do you recommend for the Dell Wyse 3040? I'm assuming my go to of Pop!_OS is too large for the 8GB, although I will probably have a Samsung t7 connected at all times.

Sorry for the late reply, only just say your comment. I use Gentoo with a USB drive for extra storage (with /usr and /var/tmp moved to the USB) and it works well. If you want something lightweight, antiX seems to do the job, but really anything should be fine if you're willing to use the USB drive for the OS. The internal storage is slow anyway, so you won't really be losing anything.

@qubitstech Ай бұрын
Hi, I've added Australia as a shipping option now if you're still interested. Just be aware that shipping is expensive, even though the board is tiny, and you'll have to consider any import fees that would be due. If you know someone locally that can do the soldering, it would probably be cheaper to order the PCBs yourself and get them assembled. Always happy to offer the option though :)

Hi, sorry for the delay getting back to you. If you still have the issue, I'd start by reseating the cable, and swapping it with one from another Pi. If that doesn't work, I'd switch the drive with one that works, to see if that's the issue. It appears not all drives are supported, so that could be the problem.

Can we use m.2 slot for external lan card I want to use it as mikrotik router
@qubitstech
@qubitstech 2 ай бұрын
Honestly I doubt it, you'd need a LAN card which uses SDIO which I'm not sure exists. If it does, you'd struggle to get 100Mbit/s out of it. I'd say give the USB 3.0 port a go, or look at using something with more expansion ports (preferably with PCIe available). Hope this helps :)

I have about 3 of these units (luckily the 16gb versions). Tiny 10 and 11 do run on it ok, but you’re probably better off with a linux distro. You can supposedly add additional storage using the SDIO port port with an m.2 to MicroSD card converter. I don’t know about I/O speeds using this method, but it at least allows you to keep everything internal and save the limited emmc storage for the primary OS.
@qubitstech
@qubitstech 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment, I haven't tried Tiny 10 or 11 yet but assumed Linux would probably be better. We have a video testing out the storage mod, To be honest, it's not really worth the hassle, it's not the most reliable mod. A USB drive is probably the better option if more storage is needed.

@qubitstech
@qubitstech 2 ай бұрын
Probably not. This only supports UEFI booting, while XP has no UEFI support. There might be ways around this, but it's not something I've ever tried. You're also likely to have issues finding drivers, though the basic Windows graphics driver might be enough to get a display output. Would be interesting to hear your experience if you decide to give it a go :)

I'm planning to use one for home assistant, so I'll probably end up doing the same. I think it helps that the internal storage itself is pretty slow - if you have a decent USB drive, you can probably match it.

@qubitstech
@qubitstech 2 ай бұрын
There's plenty of room inside the gamepad so it would definitely be possible. That would mean risking the gamepad though, so it's not something I really want to do. You can buy generic type C charging boards quite cheaply, one of those should be enough if you can find a good place to mount it.
