Great video! I also love this lens, but I get focus breathing in video with my copy. I am curious if you have noticed this in yours? Other than that, it's a near perfect lens for me.

I don’t use this lens for video often, if ever, so it doesn’t really affect me, but yeah, focus breathing is an issue with this lens. This lens is mainly a photography tool for me so I don’t really mind it. Thanks for watching!

Thanks. question for you bud, does the 45L bag pass as personal item at its 30L config with Spirit if not packed to the rim?
@winston_dlee
@winston_dlee 22 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! I’m not sure about Spirit as I’ve never flew with them, I can’t say for sure (as I’ve only heard negative things about them), but if it’s not packed fully, I wouldn’t see why it wouldn’t fit! All airlines I’ve flew with so far let me bring the 45L as a personal item and it fit.

I've been thinking about this one, too. I recently bought the A7CR, entirely to have the most compact camera I could that would give really excellent images. For me based upon only reviews, I don't own this lens yet, the pretty strong chromic aberrations (that you can't corect well in editing) when shooting a back lit subject or shooting into the sun worries me, as I tend to only take one body with one prime lens out of the house almost all the times I go shooting. Everything else about this lens would be just fine. The Sony 35mm f/1.8 could be the best compromise, but it's so long for that tiny body! The newer 40mm f/2.5 looks like another promising option.

Nice! I hear the A7CR is a great camera and I've been eyeing it as well to add to my kit haha. As for your concerns about the strong chromatic abberations, I love shooting in backlit/sidelit type situations and even shooting into the sun. Unless I really zoom in and peep into the photo, I might be able to notice it after editing, but in my experence at least, I'm able to correct a lot of it in post, so throughout my time with it for about a year or so, it's been one of my favorite lens, along with my Zeiss 55 mm, to take out if I want be have a light set up, without sacrificing a lot, if any, optical quality. The 40 mm and that entire pancake G lens series was definitely intriguing for me as well. I think whichever route you end up choosing, you'll definitely enjoy your lightweight-ness of your set up! Thanks for watching!

I have those thoughts as well, but what keeps me going is that feeling of looking back at all the pictures taken at the end of the year. I also like making photo books at the end of the year of my favorite pictures of that year so that also adds to that motivation haha! Thanks for watching and the kind words!

I love your review and takes on different needs. I’m an Asian woman who travels at least twice a year to Europe and USA. I need a durable, easy access (me not the pickpockets), light weight, and versatile backpack. The 30L sounds right and yes always try to down size while travelling, thank you also for saying the zipper on all bags are high quality, no leaking of rain and stormy weather. Thank you.

Great Topic! If working with clients, there are some aditional positive aspects when delivering the photos as early as possible: - every client is happy when they get everything quickly - it's a huge plus point - if some corrections are needed, there is enough time before the deadline (Print, other Release). - i usually produce a few thousands pics a week. Editing all the stuff immediately and sending them to clients is an additional safety measure, because there are less possibilities that something can go wrong. Whenever i had loads of images accumulating, there where lots of troubles. Either something with the backup not working perfectly, or me accidentally deleting something etc.. You just have way more chaos. - Peace of mind - it just feels really good delivering things quickly and here in Austria (Europe) people are very punctual.

Great points! Having that extra buffer of time to really start finalizing and correcting the image is really a big difference maker in my opinion to getting the most out of an image! And like you mentioned, it's also a great safety measure. Thanks for watching!

there are many downsides of editing photos right after the shoot or couples of days later. Emotions are indeed the main topic that pushes you to think about this crucial decision. As you said you retain a vivid memory of the moment and that alone might look like the most logical thought to have right away and you also mentioned the practical factors that goes into play. Also the learning curve is massive if you do as you said, rewiewing your photos with self critiques is super important. but and there is a but.. as you progress with photography you can approach your shots differently... a more slow pace rewiew of your photos is a far more rewading experience for many reasons. not to mention that a long time ago the first photographers had to wait many hours to develop their photos and then apply things like what we call nowadays "dodge and burn" techniques to lead to a better results. i think waiting longer gives you the fresh eye perpective as you said but most importantly it makes a huge difference in terms of emotions. you detach from what was the experience and by doing so your edtiing can't be any better cause you took more time to think and more time to think leads to a better result. also if you rush ypur edting you can easily overlook certain parts of the picture that you might then regret later that you didnt touch. what i usually do is wait 1 week or even more and then take enough time to editing one singol photo at the time and the i let every photo marinate for hours of days so then i can come back and rewiew it as many times as i wwant until i m happy. this is far a better chioce even tho you trade practical workflow vs mindfull workflow. very different approach leads to different results. i think nobody should rush photography.. one day you might take 1000 photos another one just 1 or even none. what is important is to experince photography and dont get lost in everything else. photography is emotion, photography is about the present moment photography is anout experiences.
@winston_dlee
@winston_dlee 4 ай бұрын
You make a great point, especially with really evaluating your photos with a fresh eye as you mentioned! Our emotions can get the best of us at times and confuse photos that may be special to us for memory sake rather than for photography sake. For those reasons, I always tend to look at the photos I love and would consider "portfolio worthy" shots over a long span, maybe every year, and really start to ask myself why I like the photo and if the reasons are merely for my memory sake, then chances are others won't think the same. But you are right! We are all different as photographers and what workflow works best for some photographers may not work for others. It really is about experimenting and seeing what works best with us! Thanks for watching!

Great review now im in the market trying to buy one...i really loved the 24mm f2.8 g lens but already had the 24mm gm and 20mm f1.8 so i sold it. But i really loved the compact size of it so wanted to maybe get the 40mm f2.5 g but this 35mm could work considering the price difference. The 40mm is around 500 used and the 35mm f2.8 seen around 300 so i might go that route.

Whoever complains about a tiny f/2.8 wide angle lens not having stabilization is just a complet knucklehead. Get a camera with IBIS, end of story. Not putting stabilization in the lens itself (apart from super telephoto of course) is the right thing to do. I pretty much have all the lenses I need, so the 35 2.8 is just a "want". But man. I DO want it quite bad right now. :D Paired up with my A7C it could be a walkaround and travel beast. Since I’ll be doing a bit of travelling next year, that’s a really welcome excuse to get it... :)

I keep selling and buying back this lens. Had it like 5 times. For it's used price its very good all around lens. Colors pop a bit more than my other lenses, sharpness is more than you want sometimes, blur is nice and a bit dreamy. Even tried the clone Samyang af 35mm 2.8. I only wish it was an f/2 but without getting bigger.

@@winston_dlee you are right, after posting this comment i started remember some of it's flaws like loCa. But nowdays i find that "clinical perfect" optical performance lenses are not always good. Like some of the famous vintage lenses that became famous for their flows and "over the line" behavior. And for the the people starting is important to note that a good lens doesn't make an interesting photograph or video. We would save them a lot of money

The A7IV serves also as a backup incase my A7RV for whatever reason might not be available. 2) I work a 9-5.

A good place to look for camera gear in general in Seoul is the Namdaemun area. I haven't personally bought any camera gear there, but I've been to some of the stores and there is a lot of gear there. Good luck in your journey for the Ricoh GR III!
