I do love your videos and pattern choices. You disagree with things they do that I love usually but.....

Vogue 2060 is a new release. It is a different pattern from Vogue 2000 and 2040. It was all the rage in the 1970s because you could wear it backwards or forward. Must be constructed out of a knit fabric. A nice pattern. Also, the DVF patterns are now available at Joanns (the newer patterns that include 2060 have not yet been released but will be in the next few weeks).

There are maybe 3-4 I liked, but I would never wear “puddle pants”-lol. That would be me in hospital because of tripping! Thank you! 😊

Why on earth did they illustrate the 1970's patterns with giraffe legged models? I'm dying laughing!!

For where you got confused with underlining, it's the same as if you were working with a sheer but with an opaque fabric it is usually about structure, it creates an amazing finish and if you have boning it can help hide the lines the bones create. It's used more in corture but it's creeping into everyday stuff too. I'm sure Gertie has an amazing video on it, possibly in her Lamour sew a long.
@robyn3349Күн бұрын
Yes! Boucle and tweed can be very loosely woven and need an underlining.

I adore the dress with the three bows on the front, but I have nowhere to wear it. The purple strapless dress is SO 1985 prom, but it's pretty.

The last pattern is all a day outfit. Lucille Ball wore those outfits on the Lucy show.

Those big shoulder bows are 100% showing up on next season of the Great British Sewing Bee. Esme loves a giant bow.

I think someone should make the green bow creation and wear it to target. It is super extra!

For Vogue 2050 with that skirt with the weird pulling thin:, The Closet historian did a Alexander McQueen inspired dress design with a half pencil skirt, half a-line with a handkerchief hem and found that it pulled too. There's more ease on one side so it skews things. She ended up with a pencil skirt underlayer on the a-line half to correct it. I suspect that is what is happening here too.

V2043 - Maybe "underlined" because one of the recommended fabrics is tweed, which esp cut on bias may stretch out a bit, loose structure?
@laylavonmav25873 күн бұрын
52:28 V2062. Yes, finally the Hostess Suit. Lucile Ball wore one. Rosalind Russell wore a Fabulous confection of brocade, silk and embroidery that was to die for in “Auntie Mame”. The short one was worn by Grace Kelly as a beach cover up with a black swimsuit, black pants and white linen skirt, and an enormous hat. They looked like a million bucks. Very good collection, saw several patterns I’m going to buy. 😃

Ha I also commented about Lucille Ball wearing the outfit in the last pattern.

Maybe underling for V2046 since boucle and the others can be rather loosely woven and fitted bodice needs structure? Maybe? Barrell leg V2051 is not listed for triangle body type.😢

That's what I noticed too.

@@colleengibney4771 oh I didn’t realize- I own v2000 and inadvertently bought knit fabric. I like that the 2040 is just for knits, and it also looks a little easier

OH NO! FALL ALREADY!! It feels like I haven't even had any Summer YET. So many lovely options, but too formal for my lifestyle. And no lie, I am absolutely sure I wore a version of that strapless purple B/M dress with the bow type front detail to my prom in an emerald green back in the day. As a side note: I do like Mimi G's patterns generally, but I wonder if there is a different block used for her? I haven't sewn any of her patterns yet but I am so tempted.

I like the double breasted skirts if they have a straight hem. I am not a big fan of asymmetry unless it’s on the Big Bang theory

I knew I was a rectangle shape hadn’t heard of the square. Good to know. Thanks
@marinelab8 күн бұрын
I'm sorry to jump and contractict you slightly, but the inverted triangle involves the shoulder's width. The breast doesn't have to be systematically wider than the hips. In this case, the shoulders appear wider than the hips' width when you look at the person facing you, (not the circumference).
@bodyandsoul177 күн бұрын
I was going to say the same thing...my hips are about 2' wider than my bust, but my shoulders are wider than my hips, and I definitely have to size up in my tops and down in my hips because of this.

This isn’t bad for a baseline to get body shape, but I still think kibbe body types are great for determining what types of clothes would look good for each body type.

Look for patterns that have added details at the shoulder to create balance and the illusion of the hour glass shape. Think shoulder pads, puffed sleeves at the sleeve head, etc.

Are they finally adding additional sizing to their vintage releases? This is the first time I've noticed it in any of the big 4. I usually don't buy the vintage patterns because the sizing is still vintage 😂 which is sad because some are so good
