Really? I've had no pressure to be attached. I felt incomplete when I was younger, but now realise I was just needy after a traumatic childhood. Love doesn't exist, but friendships are precious. Having a partner in tow or pulling against you, can destroy years of life. I'm doing things now that I couldn't have if I weren't alone. Never going back....I go where I want and do what I want. Creative and free!

46F, single. If i meet someone who actually matches me, treats me well with respect and care, i would couple up. Otherwise, i don't want to deal with drama of men anymore.

I'm here as of today because I have not a single friend in my life. My last friend who turn into my girlfriend she too abandoned me without warning. It sucks cause I will do anything for her.... She block m. Our mutual friends block me. I reach out to my other closest friend he don't respond and still haven't. I'm here to learn my new life of being alone

My problem with this logic is that even if you become an entrepreneur you are still selling your work to the capitalist, just not directly through a corporation. And the more competitive the industry is the the less money you make while you still have the illusion of freedom in spite of doing wage slavery. You become a 'petite bourgeois' if you were to use the terms of Marx. The capitalist owns you no matter what. And if you end up hiring employees, you end up perpetuating the system further. My issue with Chomsky and every communist I've ever met is that they're all very good at analysis and critique of capitalism but never have a viable solution beyond vague ideas like 'revolution', 'think out of the box', or 'common ownership of means of production'.

In the modern world you compare yourself constantly to others. 1-2 generations back and "happiness" was measured from a very different angle. As an adult you won't feel a similar level of happiness like when you were a kid. The key is to accept yourself 100% and embrace every moment. You are already perfect, and nothing you achieve, can make you less/more valuable ❤

It took me a long time - now 67 - to accept to live my life on my own terms. During my early years I did not feel my creativity ok. Yes I am not at all like mainstream people. My artistic soul is unique and special. Try to fit in is just not possible nor an option.

It definitely shows that you find it idealistic to have the standard marks of success defined by society, especially seeing your young. I just want to remind you that, there are lots of people with a partner+kids+dog+picket fence house who are going through the same feelings you have, loneliness, depression and all.

Everything if a codependent person is in a relationship with an emotionally immature narcissist. The true Narcissist doesn't want your help and they don't want to help you. Taking your focus off the difficult person in your life and putting your focus on to yourself is the best think you can do for your emotional, mental, physical and spiritual well-being.

I gave it all a shot. I was married at 20 and to someone that was good for me at the time and we divorced very amicably 23 years later. I have had a few relationships since then, but not interested in marriage again and didn't have kids. I also have no siblings, so once my parents are gone that's it .. I will be alone. Relationships were easier when I was younger. Now at 51 it is harder for friends too. I am active and love to get out and explore stuff and find other ladies around here my age just don't have the energy and it is sad to see. I don't feel 51 yet and don't want to lol. So starting to do active things with younger people since I fit in better with 35+ than 50+ My current romantic relationship is safe and stable, but he is having family issues and we may have to part ways now after 8 years due to that. He has to help his whole family and wants to move back to his home town. I am staying in my area of Florida or selling it all and just traveling for a few years .. but not moving to his town. Just not a place I want to live in now that I am retire and free to do anything. I am just accepting that life will be pretty alone and I have to learn how to be single and alone

I remember feeling this pain as a man in my 20s but at least I had friends. Then came the advice I received from a total stranger at the MVA. She said to pull back and see who notices. Those are your real friends. She said I needed to search for people who were more like myself in every way. Well, that turned out to be the worst advice ever and I could never figure out why. Narcissism can take many forms. Her advice was essentially just a recruitment to be a narcissist. Very pleasantly surprised by this video. Thank you, Justin!

Appreciate the video, thank you! So many wise points to ponder. I often think about when I get elderly and hope that I am not single and alone then as well. I have patients who have no spouse or children and they are so depressed. Some of them die alone and it’s so sad. But I always feel happy for them to leave this world because I know they will not be lonely on the other side ✨💚

I gave it a go and was married and engaged a couple of times and all. Nice divorce - thankfully But yeah, hard being with people that are so fickle. Things feel different for dating, but as we get older it changes. I just go do stuff and meet people along the way. Some become friends and most are just a fleeting moment single serving friends you meet once and that's it.

I am 36, and single. But I don’t see it as a “commitment”. A “commitment” would be to get married and take care of the family and be responsible for them your whole life. What we as singles are doing is not to make any commitments or promises. We are just living our lives as it is, and trying to make the most out of it for our individual-selves, without stressing about a commitment to do or not to do something. The good side to this is, when you are not looking for a partner, you don’t fall into unhappy relationships or marriages. Any commitment is a binding factor. The whole idea of single hood is living without bounds. So no commitments, no stress, just accepting the life as it passes by 🕺🏼.

I guess you haven't read the New Testament? Paul talks about it being better to be single than to need to be married .... but if you have to, go ahead and marry! Nothing bothers me more than religious people telling others what they're supposed to do with their lives according to some idea that has been planted in their brain.

Good point! I'm single and really enjoy it. I have lived single life for most of my years and enjoyed it. Granted, now - at 55 - I'm a single dad and I have my daughter half-time so she fills me with joy. But rest of time I really (REALLY!) enjoy being single. It is amazing the freedom and time you have to pursue your own interests when you're single. Yes sometimes it's lonely, but it soon passes if I get myself involved in something I like. It's also drama-free and fulfilling!

I need to learn to embrace this. I am ending a long relationship soon and have been single and alone basically 1 year of my life. It's the beginning of a new chapter since I have no kids or siblings and parents will die at some point and it is sobering to think about. Glad you are happy. I am working on embracing this
