EDIT: TheTimmy376, I have sent you an more detailed email to your email address in KZfaq. Please respond there! Alright, here I go again. I am making a 4-CLD as a project, and I would like some advice. First, nice project! My previous comment, in the 3S project, got taken down, or I simply cannot find it, probably because I was asking for STLs. I found on your videos, that you don't provide or sell CAD / STL files for different personal projects. I completely agree with your decisions, for intellectual property / copyright protection. You mentioned that you can answer questions, so: 1. How did you make the grip? As seen in 0:39, it seems like there is no specific spring for the grip. How do you achieve grip strength (on the haul rope) and detachability at the same time? (If you don't mind answering, of course) 2. How do you make the sheaves go up when the grip is contacted to it, as shown in 0:38-0:40? Do you use springs of some sort? 3. Also, does the bullwheel, with enough tension, have enough traction and friction to move the haul rope? I think with normal PLA, the bullwheel will move, but the haul rope will just "sit on it" and don't move along with the bullwheel. Note: I have mechanical engineering backgrounds, some 3D printing experience, and pretty decent background in cable transportation (especially chairlifts) so you can use advanced terms related to those listed above. I hope I can get some help from you! Thank you in advance! -Ryan

Hi Ryan, thanks for reaching out. I'm away for the weekend and can't get to the design files right now, but I'll reply to your questions with some elaboration and detailed photographs early next week. As for your other question; interestingly I can see the notification in my feed but I can't seem to find your actual comment, so sadly it may be lost...

We bought a 3mm diameter stainless steel cable, and spliced it along a length of I believe around 3 feet. We didn't have the best technique for the splice, but it worked well enough.

No, the lift was taken down late 2021, then partially disassembled to allow some parts to be re-used in our 2022 detachable gondola. All parts remain intact though, and the gondolas are still assembled, some of which are serving as decorative pieces throughout the house. Reassembly could in principle be done in a few days with a bit of elbow grease.

@@Funivie_org We've considered it before, but decided it'd be too high-maintenance and would require too much support to keep running. Turning something this mechanically complex into a product I can stand behind is not trivial, and probably requires many hundreds of hours in additional investment, which we cannot justify currently. If a paying customer would be willing to cover such an investment, we would certainly consider it.
