The production and sound engineering here are absolutely exquisite - that thin line between the old school analogue and the modern digital sound is an absolute joy.

For years, I had been intrigued by the line in his biography that gave the place of his death as Beverly Hills, California. Since I work in a part of Los Angeles that is adjacent to Beverly Hills, I decided to check this out. A bit of research showed that the house, on 610 Elm Drive, is still extant; and historical photographs bear out that it has not undergone any massive change. (In other words, not torn down as happened to George and Ira Gershwin's homes.) I have driven by a few times, just to enjoy seeing the house that he bought and lived in for his last year on this planet. I had my wife take photos of me on the 150th anniversary of SR's birth. (I have been careful not to disturb the present occupants, nor even to set foot on the sidewalk in front of the house.)

OMG! The hair on the back of neck is standing up! What a rush and what a fantastic piece of music. 40+ years ago I watched this in a cinema in London and until the last 30 seconds I thought this was the greatest film ever made. In hindsight, it couldn't have ended any other way, but there was always the hope that somehow Harold got away! Wow! A little bit more than an 'ot dog!

I watched it again (DVD) for about the four hundred and seventy eighth time , yesterday . Can't get the theme tune out of my head . That theme somehow managed to capture the whole mood of the film perfectly , but it might just be my rose tinted "ears" ! Never seen a film like it , maybe The Departed , but this was in LONDON . I wonder what Harold Shand would have made of his hometown today ? I said to the girl I was with "one day that guy will play James Bond". (Brosnan) . Swear down I did . We remained friends and years later when he did "Goldeneye", she phoned me up !! Some films stay with you .

That final scene of the movie is one of my favorites . No words needed, Bob Hoskins tells you everything with just his face.

One of the best endings ever. The director sat in the front seat and talked Hoskins through the emotions Shand was going through: anger, confusion, fear, stillness, amusement, resignation. An amazing film. I'd love to see it in a packed cinema.

Yes , haunting isn't it . BH's facial expressions say so much , as do PB & The Driver, both looking at him ( one in the r-v mirror) as if to say "Game Over " . Excellent film . Harold Shand said in one scene "these people deserve better than this" driving around the London backstreetsin his Jag . I wonder what he'd say about "his" London nowadays ? Breaks my heart . Am I even allowed to say that ??

The most amazing piece of 2 minute acting ever. To have so much and to lose it all because of someone else. In Bobs case u live by the sword u die by the sword. In everyday life, its an everyday occurrence 🤣😂. Thank u Mr Monkhouse for ELP and also this amazing Score. 🤘

Our life is short and full of suffering, but we can change it into eternal happiness. Accept Jesus, God's only son, as our savior. God sent him to save us from hell by suffering and dying on the cross to pay for our sins. (We rebelled against God, our creator, in our past.) He loves us immensely. He'll raise us from death. He's created a new and better world for us. Tell Jesus all your problems. He's helped me a lot. He can help you, too. The Bible is true. Read it.

This is a true piece of the 80 s when Bob Hoskins and Helen Mirren were at their best. Oh and Pierce Brosnan made a dynamite impression on the screen without saying a word. A masterpiece from the 1980 s. It’s such a shame that Britain does not have a film industry. When we get the chance my country makes cinematic GOLD🇬🇧
