A society based on drug use, having no responsibility, NOT working for a living. it is better to live in a fantasy world than in reality, without having to pay taxes and to live off the system. Just like today's homeless meth head camps that are everywhere.

I’ve heard people say the Beach Boys were heavy competition to The Beatles, but I never saw it. The Beach Boys were good, but couldn’t hold a candle to The Beatles. If anyone competed it was The Rolling Stones.

George Harrison wrote the most impressive songs of the Beatles last years....hope you're reading this Paul because you know it's the truth or you at least should know that. We loved "the quiet Beatle" and his talent ! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aOCTZsyVq8WtimQ.html ❤❤❤

The Beatles didn't really care - they just evolved and liked the BB stuff, but didn't see it as a competition. 🤗

I think Paul's remark was intended to be a little bit more lighthearted and jovial. Mike Love, apparently has no sense of humor. Maybe it's a Brit versus American thing?

the beatles and the beach boys had the same record label in the states - capitol records. (i don''t know who released beach boys music in britain. i assume it was also "parlophone" as both capitol and paralophone were owned by EMI.) odd how no one ever mentions the fact that the version of "rubber soul" that influenced brian wilson so much was probably the u. s./capitol version which was MUCH DIFFERENT than its british counterpart. the american version of "rubber soul" IS supperior to the original british release in that it contained a softer, more "folk music" ambience to it. personally i believe "pet sounds" to be overrated. and mcartney was right about "pet sounds" cover. i'm sure he wasn't being mean but offering constructive criticism. "rubber soul" and "magical mystery tour" were the only 2 capitol beatle albums to surpass the the originals released by the beatles. there's also THE GREAT "hey jude" album, released in 1970 betewwn "abbey road" and "let it be," that contained singles never released on beatles albums. another cool thing about the capitol versions of albums before 1967 is that they contained the singles left off the british albums. thanks for the video.

There is so much BS over the hippy movement its appalling. It's actually very simple. The movement was intended to be of good nature, peace and love are good ventures. The problem started when they started to experiment with drugs. They had learned Native Americans would use peyote etc. to get a spiritual contact, so they tried the same thing with LSD. Truth is, by the summer of love it was clearly not experimental, they were clearly a bunch of addicts and were no doubt out of control, sex in public with anyone, putting down government, yet using state funded health depts and clinics to get rid of crabs, lice VD and to be treated for ODs. They put down conventional families, yet took handouts and help from them, put down capitalism, yet when they grew up if they weren't fried, they become capitalists themselves. The hippies were born from hipsters, which were born from beatniks, which were from bohemians. Bohemianism began it all, which was born in the late 1800s in France when artists, actors, poets etc., watched Romany gypsies live unscathed by societies rules of religion, pillars of the community, and the constant vice society usually tries to squeeze people in as to what they should be how they should act. Problem was with hippies, they missed it a ton, drug use is self-indulgence, bohemianism is self-expression and the freedom to do that. If you were to compare today's people to hippies then, it would be the liberal woke movement, LGBT nonsense and the youth wanting to tear America down and rebuild it. The reason they never will is the same reason the hippy movement died, it's a facade, it's very unrealistic and it may take off at first, but people finally get tired of it and only a few are left. The hippies did one thing to change society, they started a drug culture that's still denied and rationalized today to keep the real truth covered by functioning addicts. Its responsible for all violent crime, family breakups, single mothers, mental illness and the list goes on. They basically started the demise of the country and for the wise showed us what NOT to do....

I feel so bad about Syd Barrett. Also, I don't really know if I should feel bad, sad, sympathetic, admiration, disappointment or any other multitude of emotions about Syd Barretts life. If you change any one thing about his experience on this planet I think you risk changing the impact he had on us. Selfishly, I do wish that he could've been able to have more artistically productive years, but ultimately I'm happy that he's at peace!;)

Ultimately, Jim was the architect of his own destruction. Jim believed that great poets, writers and other artists were inspired by altered states of consciousness. There’s some truth to that. A lot of people don’t like it and they’ll argue from a point of puritanical ignorance that intoxicants are unnecessary for great art as they ingest with eyes and ears the worst materials ever written or recorded. If you removed nicotine, caffeine, alcohol and all of the illicit drugs from literature and music, you would have nothing left. 90+% of the greats were under the influence of various types of substances. That’s just the way it is. They all tap-dance on the edge and some lose their footing, slip and fall and grab the ledge and they climb back up and they do it over and over again. Some get scared and walk back from the ledge altogether. The most extreme among them slip away and they’re gone. Jim Morrison was one of the those.
