How does this work on Prius Prime? It instructs me to have the battery at near depleted state, however with the 2017 Prime (~8.8kWh battery pack) it still has about ~2kWh in it when the engine kicks in. 2kWh is almost twice as the Prius's full ~1.2 kWh. With this break + gas press it would take an hour+ (?) to recharge 6kWh.

I ran Dr. Prius life tests twice recently on a 2008 sedan. Last year, the result was just below 'GOOD.' This year, the first test was 'BAD' (as in, time for a battery overhaul). Two days later it was 'GOOD' (no need to worry). I'm enough of an engineer to conduct a simple test following simple instructions, and I can only conclude that these sorts of stress tests are wild estimates at best -- and averaging three or four tests over the course of a week may be the only way to have any sense for the actual condition of a battery.

I wanted to check the battery temp and cell health on a 2020 Rav4 Hybrid like I use MyGreenVolt for the Chevy Volt. saw the Dr Prius app in the RAV4World forum and the guys said it worked with the gen5 Rav4. I had a VeePeak OBDcheck BLE that works on the Volt so I tried it on the Rav4; it worked! I get most of the important readings. costs around $15 for 3 vehicles. good value compared with hunting down the PIDs on TorquePro. I hope Jack tweaks it to work even better on other hybrids and the Prime.

The test won't go past 85%. It keeps rolling between 80 and 85 back and forth.

My engine came on to recharge the battery before the test finished. How do I prevent this? I was in reverse with my foot on the brake.

I was doing this test today and the gauge never moved, I was doing it while it was parked, I did not know you have to actually move the car on a open road. Nice that I have found this video.

Good app! Question: at what HV battery temperature (2005 Prius) battery fan should turn on? Dr Prius showed 124° (outside temperature was 56) and the fan still was off until I used app's override temperature option. My guess the app may not show exact temperature: checked this early morning, outside was 52°, battery temperature was 67°

Do we have some typical degradation curves depending on age and mileage? I have tested a car with 60000 km and 4 years old and it was just above 70%. Any idea if that is average, or good, or bad?

The app says to floor the pedal and let it go. Is it floor the pedal or up to 45 mph? I was given code p0571 which has to do woth cruise control. Nothing is wrong with my cruise control amd my corded obd reader doesn't throw any codes no does the check engine light come on, any help or suggestions? 2010 prius

For P0A80 code, you can check each battery voltage yourself, without buying any app. Just by an OBDII adapter (less than $20).It is a 210 Volt hybrid battery for Prius, so you have to be very careful. There are other KZfaq videos telling you how to check which cell is the issue. It saves you a ton of money.

How do tell which modules are bad and from which direction on the app 1-14 on the battery itself when you have a reading on the app. Right to left or left to right and which side of the battery are they numbered?

Not Cells, modules you meant!!! Each block has 12 cells, and each block consists of 2 modules, where each module has 6 cells. This is for the NiMH hybrid battery pack of Toyota.
