Do clients notice the differences? Do they pay for the $25k more than for few good plugins? Or would it be our own desire and admiration for either analog world x plugins world. Thx for the video. Always good ones. All the best.

Thanks for having all the spendy gear, know how, and time to do this awesome compare. I love it!! Glad I already own Logic 11 and don't have to run out and spend a bunch more money. I can now justify buying an occasional morning latte'.

Attack and release are how fast the compressor takes to ‘get to full gain reduction, or return to no gain reduction.’ All compressors start compressing immediately. Attack and release are how fast it accomplishes it. It’s a distinction fee make but eliminates confusion once you understand it.

Are you using the Inflator as a clipper? I'm asking this because you mention the use of a clipper before the limitter to tame the transients without loosing punch, but I didn't see a clipper on the suggested chain.

Wow. Your content is amazing. Just happened across it last night and am having a positive sleep deprivation experience for once in a long time. Totally worth it. Please tell me KZfaq does something to the sound that takes away the ability to hear that one thing I've always convinced myself was there and could easily pick out analog vs digital in the past. Granted it's been years since I've focused any time to listening and have made some changes I've never been convinced were positive.That along with dealing with some tinnitus in my right ear from an ear infection or it's treatment. Would love to see your teaching style on how to set up levels,unity gain, gain staging as it relates to mastering. Most everything out there talks about the same stuff which is easy enough to understand. I'm so lost with it where it matters that I can't even describe what it is I'm looking for ..lol Thanks so much for keeping at it with content for so long. We could have lost a real jewel.

I noticed what was going on and had thought it was just a loudness change. I'm glad you did that. I even chose digital thinking it was warmer. The thing is, as mentioned by others, the song is likely tracked analog. Plugins are getting oh so close. But can you clip a hardware synth digitally like you can with the AD+ in analog?

I've been considering the Bax eq for quite some time. One of the recent videos that was put out by dangerous music was a Bax EQ -> Massive Passive chain. It sounded like it was too much and that the MP could do better on it's own. Could the reason why you don't like the bax be strictly because it doesn't play well with the MP? I have an EQ4M that I want to chain with it and I wonder if using the bax with that is a completely different story and maybe why others like it whereas you don't. I'm also on the fence on what to get next, the bax, or the Convert AD+. I am currently on a Clarett+ and want to go high end. Did you mention +8 over 0? That's a lot! What is it in LUFS? My clarett can maybe get me to -3 in LUFS and then it just doesn't sound so nice anymore but distorts okay. You also mentioned that the Convert AD+ brings an analog feel. I've read that the bax sounds "musical" I wonder which brings the better change to my gear. You have some high end equip. The fact that you dropped the bax and kept the AD+ suggests to me that the AD+ is the better buy in the long run. Would you agree? Also I wonder about that Hilo 2 now and if that is better than the AD+ Thanks for all your help getting us to where we might want to be.

You have a lot of equipment and 3 pairs of studio monitors. I’m a bit shocked that you don’t seem to have any knowledge of acoustics. All monitors are standing on wood none are decoupled with foam or spikes or any kind of absorber.

It makes so much sense. The chain order is so important, just like in sound design. I think mixing and mastering is as part of the overall design, and when mixing or producing a track, these steps should be taken in consideration.

Hey will , hope you’re doing good. I’m a big fan of your videos that I find fun , interesting and inspiring for a aspiring mastering engineer like myself.I m late to the party but I have a small untreated studio and work exclusively on my trusted lcd x as of lately but I miss a little monitoring reference. I have my olds Yamahas msp5 which are really flat but lacking of bass and I wondering if I take the little kali subwoofer in addition . Or the in 8 v2.. or the in 5 with the subwoofer… Thanks again for your great content.
@WillBorzaАй бұрын
I would go 8v2 with a sub Or grab a plugin like can opener to add crossover and other things to your LCD-X’s

@@WillBorza Thanks a lot for taking the time to respond on this, Will. I really appreciate it. The fact that my studio is really small and poorly treated make me a bit skeptical about 8 inch woofers and for this reason I tend to work exclusively on headphones. I have can opener , sonarwoks and some corrective and cross feed options as well on my DAC but sometimes you got to check your master on trusty monitors. I didn’t decide yet but I will seriously take your advice. Thanks again ! Keep up the good work. I can wait to see your next video

DDMF metaplugin allows you to build a chain using any of your third party plugins within metaplugin itself and oversample the whole thing. This is a great way around this and gives you the option to use those plugins that don't have oversampling built in (all plugins should these days!!)
