Question, i picked up a whole qt "kit" on fb with tank, hob filter, heaters and tons of meds (maij reason for buying) and turns out most of it is sealed BUT expired. Should i ask for my money back or can i still safely use the meds?

@@KillaKlownFPV831 Copper doesn’t really expire, but anything else will likely have reduced potency after the expiration date. Still usable, but not always effective.

? for you. I lost all but one fish (bar goby) to velvet. I did 40 days QT like you mentioned before adding fish to my DT. The fish were great for 3 months and I broke down my QT tank. Days later, I added corals and snails. Within days, my fish started dropping and within a week, only the goby was left. My reef is fully loaded and there is no way to break it down to get that goby, who never got velvet. What am I to do? I’m thinking of waiting 3 months, doing a QT for 30 days fallow (except for the goby)on new fish and adding to see if it works. What’s your thoughts?

Some of what he's saying is just not true - pharma grade absolutely IS different it is NOT just a "marketing ploy." It meets higher chemical purity standards and has a certificate of analysis from the FDA. Food grade does not meet nearly as stringent purity requirements and the FDA classifies it as "generally safe." Whether it's good enough is a separate question, but to say that pharmaceutical grade ingredients is nothing more than some sort of ploy or marketing trick is absolutely incorrect.

Cool. Now I need to know how many Liters I need to buy for my tanks! What is the dosage for 1m³ (1000 Liters)? Can you put fish in lakes?
@HumblefishReef
@HumblefishReef Ай бұрын
If you are wanting to treat in-tank (NOT a bath) then I would follow dosing instructions outlined here: humble.fish/community/index.php?threads/peroxide-h2o2-dosing-for-parasites-in-reef-tank.725/

dinos are not worth things, keep on reefing, they are just ugly to look at. My NO3 Po4 was never at zero, still LCA and SCA. I had to blow off my sand daily. I have tried everything for 1.5 years.

hi, if i use prazipro still need to do fresh water dip for external parasite like fluke ??
@HumblefishReef
@HumblefishReef 2 ай бұрын
No, a freshwater dip is only needed to check for skin flukes and provides some temporary relief. You don’t need to do a freshwater dip if you are going to treat with Prazipro.

Only ever had dinos bloom once, did big syphon as much as possible with a water change, then complete blackout ( covered the tank in cardboard sheets) 3 days, then dosed Dino X exactly as the manufacurers instructions. Dinos never became a visible problem anymore, no more blooms. I have no idea why this worked but it did.

Man Dino’s are rough. I got them when everything dropped to zero. I thrown everything at it. I never used a microscope. But for me I siphoned into a filter sock every 2 or 3 days added bacteria and raised my nutrients up. In 2 or 3 months I beat them. There is Dino x but it has really mixed reviews. But on the positive side the Dino’s did kill my Vermetidae snails 😂 Good luck man you got this. Good and bad comes and goes in this hobby. You got this!

I got brave enough to get a Scopas Tang (I’m scared of tangs, because they’re parasite magnets) from my LFS, which said it had been there 3 months! I didn’t quarantine (lesson learned), and all was going well for a couple weeks. Maria De Scopas (I named her a mix of Spanish and the Latin to say “broom of the sea” 😊) was eating very well. I had just gotten her to start eating sheet nori. Skittish, but doing well. Then boom… my world was rocked. I saw spots. I was hoping sand. Next day, more spots, but no one else was affected. The next day, she’s worse and Emo Nemo, my Darwin Clown, is in really bad shape! So fast… from nothing to covered in a day. Yeah, a grown 45 year old man ugly cried! Google brought me to your site, and I read and read. I did the H2O2 dip for 30 min, as per instructions. I’m starting dosing on the tank immediately! I don’t know what the outcome will be, as Emo is struggling. But if I save just one fish… I owe you big time! Thank you so much for all the research and time you put into this. I really thought I was going to lose everything, as soon as I realized it was velvet. I haven’t read much that was inspiring about copper and QT with velvet. You gave me, Maria de Scopas (Scopas Tang), Princess Picasso (Picasso Clown), Emo Nemo (Darwin Clown), and Pixie Rasmussen (Fairy Wrasse) hope! Thank you again for that. Corals don’t seem to be ill affected, according to everything I’ve read… especially since they’ve all received H2O2 dips in the beginning… but I’d gladly trade one or two for my fish family.

I would not recommend drilling Aqueon aquariums. They use whatever glass they have around the shop and don’t label it. My 75 gallon had tempered front, back, and bottom panels. I much prefer to buy a quality brand like Planet. Their build quality is so much better and the cost difference isn’t much (less than an Acantho haha).

I’m looking at extending my 800 litre fragrance tank and adding a 10ft display. I also have another Red Sea reefer 350. All the fish will be brought together and added to the display and frag system. These systems have been running for 4 years with no sign of fish disease. Would you remove them all and quarantine or just quarantine new additions? I have wrasse, clowns, tangs etc. including a powder blue.

Thank you guys! Your conversations are some of the most informative reefing content out there right now. Love to see it! Thank you for being mindful of how expensive this hobby is. I worry about the financial literacy of hobbyists in general as it is so easy to end up spiraling into those buy now, pay later offers at all the big box distributors of dry & wet goods.

I have both a 6 line wrasse and a neon dottyback in my 160 gallon tank. I've had them for about 5 months and so far, the are the least aggressive fish in my tank. I guess time will tell if they end up being jerks later. Hopefully, my larger tank size is why they are very docile.
