India Is on the Brink Aug. 9, 2023 NRW YORK TIME ince Mr. Modi took office in 2014, his ruling party has torn those asunder with dangerous exclusionary politics intended to charge up the party’s base and advance its goal of remaking India’s secular republic into a majoritarian Hindu state. The repugnant nature of this brand of politics has been clear for some time, but the situation in Manipur shows what’s ahead for India: The world’s most populous country is slowly degenerating into a conflict zone of sectarian violence. This development is rooted in a skewed idea of Hindu supremacy. Historically, Hindu nationalists have idolized Adolf Hitler, dating back to the period before independence, when the leading ideologue of the movement, M.S. Golwalkar, praised the Nazi’s “final solution” to the Jewish problem and held it up as a “a good lesson for us in Hindustan to learn and profit by.” “Mein Kampf,” with its focus on racial superiority, has consistently remained a bestseller in India. Yet, today, many Hindu nationalists are also ardent supporters of Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whom Modi considers one of his close friends and allies. Far-right Hindu nationalists even rallied outside the Israeli Embassy in New Delhi asking to enroll in the Israel Defense Forces to combat the common enemy of both Israel and India. “The same radical jihadist Islamist terrorist thinking that Israel is a victim of, we are a victim of as well,” one anchor said on television. “Israel is fighting this war on behalf of all of us.” Another leader of Modi’s BJP said on social media: “We may face the situation that Israel is confronting today if we don’t stand up against Politically motivated Radicalism.”

Part 2/2: Modi's Massive, Systematic & Dangerous Persecution of Religious Minorities India's blatant, massive, systematic and extremely dangerous targeted killings, marginalization and genocide of religious minorities including Muslims, Sikhs, Christians and other minorities under the supervision of India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi. United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) gets detailed briefing by Fermand De Varennes, United Nations's Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues on India's blatant, massive, systematic and extremely dangerous targeted killings, marginalization and genocide of religious minorities including Muslims, Sikhs, Christians and other minorities under the supervision of India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The report highlights the dark reality and the real face of Narendra's Modi's Hindutva led ideological plans for India along with his vicious intentions to create an imaginary normalcy around events of targeted marginalization, killings, riots, abductions, arrests and intolerance. USCIRF exposes Modi's government and its real agenda behind the annexation of the state of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in 2019, criminal negligence and ignorance towards the genocide in Manipur and the most recent incident of killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada.

i haven’t read the book but from what‘s said in the discussion, it seems Prof Copeland is of the view that the US had done something wrong by blockading oil to japan in 1939/40. well, what else could the US have done? It demanded Japan to withdraw from China but Japan refused.

I've got a Chinese friend whose grandpa was killed in Mao's Cultural Revolution. Somehow, he still is one of the many Mao worshippers in China. Just like how there are many Russians who worship Stalin and loved the USSR despite being anti-socialist. Sometimes, people don't make sense. All they want is "greatness;" they don't care what it means or what it costs.

The main reason why the US/West have failed to contain China and will continue to fail is that no one in the Western World truly knows about China, maybe there are a few, but they don’t have any voice. China is unstoppable!

The US wishes that China invades Taiwan and has been baiting China into it. All to finally draw China into an open conflict, just like they drew Russia into one with Urkraine. What a timing! This, according to the policy crafters in the US, will prevent China and Brics nations going rogue on the US petro dollars! But I doubt that China will play into that hand..

🇺🇸🇬🇧🇦🇺🇳🇿🇹🇼🇯🇵🇰🇷🇵🇭 We must not fail to give our unequivocal support to fellow democratic nations like Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and Philippines. There is no common ground with authoritarian China!! After Covid, threats to invade Taiwan, secret police stations across the globe, claims to the entire ocean and territorial waters of the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia, destruction of coral reefs to create artificial islands for use as military bases…. China is way out of line these days… but you can’t reason with dictators! Americans are tired of China’s BS! We are tired of Chinese aggression! We, the allied democracies of the world, need to be firm and stand together no matter what! I sense a decoupling of West from China on the horizon. The Chinese authoritarian dictator Xi Jinping and his aggression is pushing the West further and further away. The USA along with its allies and authoritarian China are fundamentally at odds with each other on so many issues. There’s no middle ground anymore. The way the US Congress keeps passing Taiwan related acts and laws, I wouldn’t be surprised if they decided to scrap the entire outdated One China policy in favor of a One China One Taiwan policy. I stand with Taiwan and so do the majority of freedom loving Americans. Without Taiwan none of us would have the microchips that go into our electronics: smartphones and computers, you name it! 75%-80% of the world’s chips and semiconductors come from Taiwan, our ally since World War II. Imagine if China got its hands on that microchip industry…. THE ENTIRE WORLD WOULD BE ON ITS KNEES begging the master for handouts. We cannot let that happen and we cannot allow a fellow allied democracy fall to an authoritarian dictatorship like China. Totalitarianism is on the rise again. Democracies MUST stand together! Hopefully, the United States can convince other democratic nations to decouple and isolate China. ❌ We are opposed to the genocide of the Uyghur people in northwest China. ❌ We are opposed to the harassment of and threats to invade Taiwan. ❌ We are opposed to the stripping of Hong Kong of its democracy. ❌ We are opposed to organ harvesting. ❌ We are opposed the suppression of Tibetans. ❌We are opposed to territorial grabs and artificial island building for war purposes. ❌ We are opposed to biological warfare… viruses made in labs! ❌ We oppose the secret police stations the Chinese government has set up in 53 countries (6 in the USA alone) meant to spy on, harass, intimidate, kidnap, or extort anti-Chinese communist dissidents in other sovereign countries. ❌ We are opposed to spy balloons flying in our air space. ❌ We are opposed to troll farms whose Chinese keyboard warriors (Wumao) flood social media with lies and propaganda in an attempt to steer public opinion on China and create doubt about the Western allies and NATO.

Your observation of Xi's aspiration to be compared to Deng over Mao is so off that it may as well come from an alternative universe. Xi wants to surpass Mao, and he thinks he's already way greater than Deng, whom he sees as a traitor to the communism and the Chinese nationalism Mao stood for.

Your speaker is too optimistic. The issue with Taiwan is Chinese sentiment on unification. How Taiwan feels can actually speed up reunification schedule. As for Xi's leadership: anti-corruption, green energy, anti-poverty, belt and road, xing jiang pacification, Hong Kong resolution, trade war, tech war, covid containment, popping stock/property bubble, control of SCS, development of BRICS, de-dollarization, modernization of PLA. It's actually scary if you list all thing his government has done.

The notion that there could be a non-nuclear shooting war between nuclear powers is quite novel, not to mention fantastic. Taiwan is of little interest to us beyond costing China resources: human, military, political, etc. Once China reunifies Taiwan officially, the world won't even notice. All of our warmongering is for arms sales, first, and to force resource rich nations to make favorable deals with us and deny deals to others. This pattern holds in every corner of the globe where we hold sway.

"Taiwan is of little interest to us". If the threatened invasion of a country as progressive as Taiwan is of no concern to its Pacific neighbors then the Pacific is likely doomed to subjugation under Beijing rule. So next goes SK and the Philippines. Okinawa and Japan won't go easily. My two cents worth is that Israel is a lost cause, Ukraine is a European defense concern, and that Taiwan is the one worth saving.

You jackasses, The US has absolutely no chance in preventing China from taking over Taiwan. Taiwan is almost 8000 miles from the United States but only 100 miles of China. China always pack more missiles, drones and warplanes in its Mainland than the US can put on its warships. China's industrial capacity is larger than the 9 next countries combined. China's population is 5x that of the United States. China is a nuclear armed country. Would the United States be willing to sacrifice Los Angeles, Chicago, NYC, Miami, Washington DC, San Francisco, Seattle and Houston for Taiwan? If the US goes to war with China the Chinese have more factories than anyone in the world. They would quickly turn those factories into full scale war production and out manufacture the United States in weapons and ammunition into oblivion. They would mobilize tens of millions of Chinese men into the PLA. China would also have the support of Russia and Russia's massive military industrial manufacturing capacity, raw materials, natural resources an How in the world would the United States cope with that? You want to see a 50 million men military with armed by the largest industrial manufacturing capacity in the world. Then there is the fact that all the armed services in the US are understaffed Nobody wants to join the US military. The US would have to introduce a draft. The US sent 3 million American boys to Vietnam to try to keep North Vietnam from taking over South Vietnam How did that war go? Don't you clowns see that Taiwan to China what South Vietnam was to North Vietnam? This is not the first time China has invaded and conquered Taiwan. The first time took place in the 17th century and that war took over 40 years and cost half a million lives The civil war in the Mainland China between the Nationalists and the Cimmunists in the 20th century took over 26 years. It cost the lives of 17 million people You are dealing with a 5000 year old country that has fought 20, 30, 50, 100, 500 year wars. Are you Americans ready to fight a 26 year war, 40 year high intensity war with China over Taiwan? You Americans have no idea of the scope of the mess you guys are getting yourself into.

Wouldn’t two very good reasons to defend Taiwan be; if the PRC controls the western pacific, then our close allies and trading partners, Japan and ROK, survive only with the PRC’s blessings, and no one really knows what what it’ll take for the dollar to lose its place as the world’s reserve currency, but this can’t help.

Interesting discussion, I disagree with the speaker. One component missed out is the Indian govt will start operations to free Chinese illegally occupied Ladakh and also free Tibet. Tibet is a flat land with lot of sand and highest water supply. It’ll be very difficult for a defender, their J20s will suffer because of high altitude conditions. I’m not saying it’s a walkthrough but Chinese forces are conscripted and aren’t particularly good at fighting.
