Hence the joke, what's it called when you speak 2 languages, bilingual. With 3 languages trilingual. And only one? American. The low appreciation of other cultures and languages and it's not the case for Canada, also landlocked, probably no need to speak French on a daily basis, but still usefull.

8.10. Cecilia I was wondering what you were wearing inside the AP on your feet, and then the mirror showed that you are walking barefoot, which is so nice, it looks so natural, fresh and laidback and healthy.

Forcing people to learn languages they don't find useful or interesting is a lost cause. I have my own motivations for learning languages, but it's more of an intellectual fascination (I'm inspired by Tolkien) than a needed tool for adapting to my environment. Other people's strengths and interests lie elsewhere, and that's fine.

I've had similar experiences. I was shocked to discover my contacts, which cost $200 a year ago, cost 10 TIMES that amount this year. Two little piece of plastic cost $2000 apiece... and I need those things because I have a disease called Keratokonus which cannot be corrected with glasses! On the other hand, my sister's daughters live in Switzerland, (Keratokonus is genetic) and paid NOTHING for their contacts. NOTHING. It was covered by their taxes. Yet ADA penalizes us for not buying this BS insurance. Grrr.

With the current attacks on women's reproductive rights, I hope you stay in Europe and build your life over there. It's so much nicer in Western Europe and way more women friendly. I moved from Europe to US 20 years ago. I am male and I have a great job but no way I am going to stay in US for retirement. The US is becoming a religious sh1th0le

I ran into the same problem living abroad for 4 years in France and I loved it so much but the weight of knowing that I will never get that time back with the people I loved became too much. I moved back to hometown and it is still too early to tell if I will regret it, somedays I do but other times I am just so grateful to be close with them again. It's hard because it's like do I live for myself or for others but at the same time what I want are these people. Maybe I overthought the situation and I could have made it work but the idea of spending my life apart from the people I love and almost become a stranger to the people who love me the most broke my heart. I know that I may not see them everyday but I will definitely see them more than the month or two out of the year plus with the 9 hour time difference calling was extremely difficult. I think as people who have the spirit to move abroad we are in a tough situation because we are passionate people with lots of love but these loves, love for adventure and beauty and change and love for the people in our life are just so far apart.
