Loved this game as a kid. It was my first console Digimon game and was what made the 7 Demon Lord Digimon some of my favorite digimon of all time cuz they had such a cool concept and were so dangerous. Didn't know about the localization stuff and that it basically wasn't a World game so when i tried playing a world game after playing this I was disappointed lol. Digimon World Next order was just not my thing. So knowing that this game was actually a "Story" game made sense and explains why I loved this game and love the Cyber Sleuth games.

The idea that the game isn't that great because of the writing and characters is... really weak. And that's an important point to make because it encompasses about half of this video's content. Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Digimon, Beyblade, Hot Wheels, Power Rangers, Transformers, Bakugan. The list goes on with franchises that stand on marketability to children, none of which have consistently good writing or "compelling characters." They're for kids... what else did you expect as an adult? The game doesn't rely on the audience having knowledge of the plot, themes, and characters of the anime. They rely on kids that love sharps claws and teeth on super-creatures, weird references to Shinto mythology, and radical, butt rock battle music. This game has really enjoyable combat, the music is good, and the digimon are dope. Simple and executed well. I'm not hating on this video in any way, I'm just making it clear that this is, after all, a game.

Yeah.. You kinda deserve this when you chose to step into the Falcom-verse (said someone who counted to at least 5,000 hours of playtime in falcom games.) But hey, do you know you can use Falcom music for free in your videos via their Falcom music license?

Growing up this was the only digimon game I ever got exposed to and of course as a kid I loved it, but as an adult it’s still fun, i wish the encounter rate was lower because it happens every 5 to 10 steps and feels like your in the cave area of a Pokémon game. I like clicking on digisoul charge whenever I get the chance for that element of surprise and even though you might not like it, you can go back to the star menu and change it back to which ever digimon you want it to be. The battle system is easy, the puzzles are a bit tedious. The story is a bit basic but good, a good amount of play time. The character are basic video game stereotyped but over all it is not a bad game but just good. I would give it maybe 3 1/2 digi eggs out of 5

Hah, same, the Ys games have taken over my life. Parents got me Ys 8 for Xmas in 2018 because "hey maybe she'll like this one" Spoiler alert: I LOVED Ys 8, so I went back and played the others that I could. I loved Ys 8 so much that it's affecting how I make the games I make, because after getting into Ys 8 I had the realization that not only is it exactly the kind of game I want to play.. _it's exactly the kind of game I want to make._ I am eagerly awaiting Ys 10, and who knows, maybe Falcom will one day remake Ys 5. Also highkey I want to work at Falcom now because the Ys games are just that flippin good
