Honestly I think speed running and sequence breaks adds another layer to an already great game if the sequence breaks and other glitches are well hidden and hard to pull off making it so casual players likely wouldn’t know about them unless they researched or if they did know it wouldn’t hurt the game very much. Why arbitrarily limit the communities ability to enjoy the game and show that love even if it means breaking a large part of the game?

Out-of-bounds stuff is pretty lame and lifeless, but why should they waste their time when they could actually be MAKING things? Patching out speedrunning adds literally no value.

My favorite example of a low% run getting longer is in hollow knight, where originally the low percent run required you to grind the same group of enemies for 40+ hours, and then someone discovered a way to beat the game with less completion percentage by grinding a different enemy and the run got even longer. From a business perspective, I see absolutely no reason why Nintendo would patch these skips. (note that I do not have any business experience, take everything I say with a grain of salt) 1: It costs extra time and money to patch the game when they could be working on other stuff. 2: People might buy the game specifically for speedrunning, if you make it not a fun speedgame, it would mean less sales. 3: Speedrunners would want to buy the unpatched game instead, buying from third parties instead of Nintendo. 4: People can learn about your game from the speedrunning scene, when they could've never heard of it before. 5: Patching the tricks could hurt the casual experience, leading to less people wanting to play and talk about the game. 6: Doing this repeatedly will cause people to lose trust in the company, turning to other companies for their video game consumption, speedrun or not. So even if Nintendo were sucessful in killing Metroid Prime as a speedgame, all they would be doing is wasting money to cause themselves to lose more money.
