I will say, the 1984 (literally) version actually doesn’t seem bad. Seems like it’s pretty decent. But 2024 is a masterpiece.

I liked the 1984 version better in every way. Yeah, I know. In the books, he's a kid, but the new version just made me feel like I was watching space Harry Potter. That kid annoys me for some reason.

Yet some describe the resent iteration as a master piece,,,,, There is FAR more talent that has suffered the ugly of society to be reduced to failure than there is in examples of recent success! We all lose for the lack of vision of those in power......including them..... As is the lack of creative variation and visionary investments of effort that is now the precedent tomorrow will inherit!!!! Humanities biggest issue is that stupid isn't stupid until its seen as stupid by all the people that once saw it as clever! it ensures foolish investments of effort sustain well past their sell by date......!

Dune 2 got me ready to give my life for Paul’s jihad. I don’t even care if dune is a cautionary tale. He’s my lisaan al-ghaib.

The inclusion of a made up language was brilliant. But this wasn't about the language or the studio effects. It was all about the delivery. The acting on Dune '24 was superb.

Dune 1984 speech seems to be of higher vibration and from a place of standing in one’s destiny and power. Kyle(actor who plays Paul) seems lighter and higher vibration. The new dune seems like a false prophet type of speech. Even Timothée(actor who plays Paul in the new film)seems a lot more darker energetically. I had a hard time listening to his speech as it came across satanic to me.

I’m sorry. This is just my opinion I’ve always found the Lynch version of Dune ridiculous. Put side by side with this new version which is an adult science fiction masterpiece, the Lynch only suffers more. Granted, they could not do the level effects accomplished in the Villeneuve version. But that’s far from an excuse. Both The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi existed when Lynch made his Dune so there was a level of ability they didn’t even try to accomplish.

1984 Paul was pretty much giving classic hero speech, while 2024 Paul seems more like a predator going for the kill. I just love how he started his speech saying "There's no one here that can stand against me!" Really, that was something that I was not expecting

The sad truth is neither captured the magic of the books. Those books have fascinated generation after generation after generation, each obsessed with making their own vision of it. Dune has been made as a major production three times now. There will be a fourth. Because nothing can compare to the books. (also the new movies fucked some of the best characters up hard for the sake of pandering to a modern audience, so if you hated Chani in the movies definitely read the books).

I think this scene most clearly shows how much better DV's Dune films are. And it's even more impressive when you compare the *full scenes* side by side. In Lynch's full scene, the Fremen are already won over and it's mostly saber rattling. In DV's full scene, Paul transforms before your eyes and you can actually see why the Fremen would follow him. But unfortunately, this edit seems to be playing up the Chani/Zendaya hate by focusing on her. 😐

Chani’s problem is Denis altered her character from the book to stand in for the audience to drive home Paul is a villain. In the book, she was big time Team Paul. The book takes place over years. Paul and Chani already had children who were murdered by the Harkonnens during their attack on seitch Tablr. Denis could have kept her the same and still it would have been clear Paul is bad news for the Freman. Regardless, Paul knew he was using the people he had grown to love, but it was the only way to save humanity. Denis’ change of Chani’s character really makes a mess of the storyline in Dune Messiah.

Some scenes the 1980s movie did better. For example when Paul silence's the head bene gesserit it's pretty tame and short in the Villeneuve version while in the Lynch version it's much more aggresive in tone and speech when Paul shouts: "SILENCE!! I remember your gom jabbar. Now you remember mine. I can kill with a word". kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fLKSgdWKybjYnGg.html

Chani frowning like a petulant child is just weird. They really ruined her. Yeah her role was minimal in the book but at least she isn't an insane lunatic whose viewpoint makes no sense.
