Todd, as a regular watcher over the last 6 months let me assure you that you haven't failed at KZfaq. I enjoy your channel and if you bring joy or entertainment to others, that is noble not a failure. Sorry it hasn't been a success, but you never chased the $$ , sponsorships etc that others do. Not being for sale is alright. Good luck with expanded family.

Thanks for the video effort. ??? Shouldn't there have been a circlip on the 200 oilfilter? Also can you update the 200 plastic oilfilter cover with the 79' alloy cover on V8? Thanks

Thanks mate. Nah no circlip on the filter element, it just clicks in over a knurling in the housing. The alloy filter cover would definitely be a good upgrade, I'll look into it

Good info mate! That's good to know the alternator fix is a relatively easy DIY job, though time consuming of course. Still a big $$ saver if you can do it yourself. Thinking out loud, it would be cool if you could work out a way to seal the bush housing over that shaft to stop crap getting in there. Food for thought! Cheers :)

The fact you hit post on the video shows that you haven’t failed, the growth of the channel is not something you can control directly, try and get back to the roots of why you started the channel and most importantly have fun doing it, as far as the parenting side of your struggles, it’s tough for a bloke when they’re so little, but as they get older and you can do more with them it gets easier, you’ll still have the “bad” days but over all it’s better, hope your mindset is doing better a week on

Hey Todd! I know what you are going through. I have two little sons alswell and the second one changed everything. It's been really hard for my girlfriend, my older son and for me with this little baby joining our family. We all had to stop doing the things we loved to do. It's been exhausting for all of us. No offroading, no DIY carwork, no vacation.. But I can tell you one thing from my point of view when our second son is getting older now: There will be better times to come. And you will enjoin doing your stoff with both of them on your side. It will bee different but it will be better! Please give all your love to your family. I'm sure you will get all your love back from your sons! Sorry for my bad english. I love your 120 Prado videos. I watched them as tutorials for me and my 120 Prado which I bought when our first son came to life!

Sucks mate, and here's my opinion. In your all time most popular videos, from the 50 or so most viewed videos virtually all of them are about the 120 series, and the few popular ones not about the 120 are things like "My 200 series caught fire" and "five thing i hate about my 200". And that sums me up also, you seem like a great bloke but when you changed the channel name and ditched the 120 for a 200 you went from being a big fish in a small pond to being a small fish in a huge pond. You were carving out a great niche what that 120, i really wish you kept it and done cool things with it that would stamp your place on the map.

One of the most heartfelt moments I’ve ever watched on the tube… having gone through two kids one which was very difficult and in the end we had to accept the reality that our child has a life altering disability felt like life would never get better. I’m here to tell you Todd, life does get better. Support each other and look after each other first and your kids will reap the benefits. If you still enjoy creating then keep doing it, even small projects on that cruiser, after all that’s why I started following you…. Thank you for your comment mate. I feel much better hearing from other parents about the light at the end of the tunnel. I highly commend you for sticking it through with your kids, especially with the knowledge and realisation of the length of your path. Massive kudos to you and your partner. I'm enjoying seeing others (as well as yourself) tell me that they enjoy seeing me be genuine and honest on my channel. As a creator its easy to fall into the belief that I need to become like others to be worth watching, at the cost of my own character. I'm glad I can feel better moving forward being my own goofy, ecstatic and flawed self without my subscribers making for the door haha. Cheers mate, hope to see you out there some day!

G'day Todd, a great video raising many relevant points of running a business whilst juggling the demands of a young family. Firstly, don't sweat the KZfaq side of things. If it makes you happy, then keep doing it, but maybe find some other people eg. university/TAFE media students to do the stuff (like editing) you'd rather not do. Putting it aside for a while is also a good option to free up time to spend on yourself and your family. Importantly, the 'struggling father' discussion is one that many men should have, but don't. Best way to get through those tough times is with friends and family. As a father of three (all now adults in their own right), I speak from similar experience, and especially with the colicky child. Looking forward, I think the family-oriented series of Offroad Crusader is a natural progression (I watched the Leyland Brothers show on television when I was a kid) worth considering. Until the next video, look after yourself and take care.

Thank you for your comment mate, its brightened my evening to read your thoughts :) Yes I think the strugging father topic is swept under the rug a lot, stigmafied with the notion that 'a real man is always a good father'. By the sounds of a lot of these other replies I think we aren't alone. Keep doing what youre doing mate, you are always welcome on my channel :) Cheers

Hey Todd, first vid of yours to land in my feed. Youtubing can be a lonely game at times and yes the reward vs effort isn't there for some time for most of us. Generally, it's a time based thing as well for most of us, unless as you mentioned we happen to hit a particular niche that resonates with a demographic that spends a lot of time online. Glad you're keeping at it, measure your success against yourself, not others. If you're growing and getting views, keep doing it and look for the 1%. LIke you I've managed to connect with other youtubers, some of which have been extremely helpful in providing suggestions and feedback. Finally sounds like you've had a tough year mate and in some ways I can relate. Hats off to you and others who have the courage to make these kinds of videos. I agree there's a benefit for everyone knowing they're not alone. take care mate.

Mate, as an ex veteran who deployed when our second daughter was 10 months, and a toddler, all struggles are real. As a team, ur wife and kids will work through it. As a team is the key. Now that 2nd daughter is 18, and there's 5 of us. One never fails, their just little life hiccups. As a father and a husband, your family unit is everything. We've had mates choose to bang out, what's left behind is devastating. Best thing is to chat, and that's an awesome place to do it with that view, and a brew. So chin up you no longer a Prado driver 😂, your a 200 series driver hahaha.

Hey Todd, I didn’t even need to watch the full video to know you’re not a failure. Sounds like you’ve had a real dud time recently. Take some pressure off yourself if you can, gather thoughts, and look forward to when the motivation will inevitably return! It takes people literally years to grow their channel to a point where it provides meaningful passive income. I watched a video just the other day about MrBeast explaining that your first 100 videos will be shit, but it’s important that you learn one thing with every video, constantly improve and be persistent. I know of other big 4WD channels who didn’t become big for 3-5 years. Look through the video history of some of the big channels we know, their earliest posts are from between 5-7 years ago! I know you’ve been posting for roughly a similar amount of time, but don’t think I’m wrong to say you may not have been as structured/focused on growing the channel until recently? I think you’re doing a great job. I went away for Christmas and wasn’t on KZfaq much for the first 4 months of the year. I looked up your channel out of interest, as I’ve been enjoying watching it grow, and saw that you’d gone from something like 2k subs near the end of last year, to 8.Xk now. So good! That’s a 120% increase. I noticed your video quality and posting frequency had gone up, and you had a couple new popular videos. Including that Hilux review that could be a niche worth exploring. Aim for 10k subs, it’s a great milestone and one I know you can hit soon. Good luck and I wish you strength.
