This is basically the third generation of this song. We had it first time round when Joni was younger, it was in a higher key, it sounded quite peppy. And then she reworked it into an orchestral version in 2000, now older, with a raspy voice, and more life experience and pain behind it. And now this version she first performed at Newport, which almost has a soothing quality to it. And this is what makes a legendary artist - they can recreate one of their songs which has been around for a long time, and give it a completely different meaning and emotion. Joni is a national treasure, and we are all so privileged to be able to share in her journey. This performance made me cry. Thank you Brandi for helping Joni back to the stage.

I am a straight, white, divorced mother with two children who are both married white their own children which makes me a proud grandmother and honestly I love them all regardless. They know that though. I do not have to continuously repeat myself not will I ever be ashamed of who I am and/or the (alleged) things that I may and/or may not have done to keep them safe to the best of my ability. You would be so very surprised though at all the things I have taken the blame for but have not done and/or have been accused of doing. If I would have done a portion of the things that I have been blamed for I would fear me too, and I do. Though I shouldn’t be the one in fear. SERIOUSLY!

It’s a pity the camera cut to people in the crowd who seemed confused that people were using something other than a computer to make music.
