Stephanie Mills was the originator. She was the original Dorothy in The Wiz. Diana got the film role because they wanted a bigger name. (Stephanie and Michael were dating while he was shooting "The Wiz". You should also check out Stephanie's other version. It's more R&B than her original rendition. When I tell you, listen to the end, please believe you won't be disappointed. All that voice from someone under 5 feet tall!!! (As an adult!!!) But Miss Mills was the one who set the standard. I love me some Miss Ross, but Miss Mills is highly underrated. Power and goosebumps inducing vocals!

Home sweet home..❤😢

I heard this song for the first time on a day I was wishing my mom was still here. My mom passed in January of this year and what I would give to go back in time and bring her back. I am having a hard time after losing her, this song is so beautiful, it helps soothe my broken heart in a bitter sweet kind of way. I think of home during a time my family was happy. During my mom’s transition some of my family members and I had some disagreements, we argued during a time we should have been bonding. Needless to say, this has made my grieving so much more than just grieving. I am hurt, and don’t know how to place these feelings, where to put them because now I am not talking to my family. Thank you for this beautiful song Brandi, your gift of song is much more than music, your music brings hope and comfort to people when they cannot see that tiny light at the end of a dark tunnel. it is your voice that lifts my mood and makes me turn around when I’m mentally heading in the wrong direction, God has blessed the world with your gift.

I really hear Brandi's icon influences in this song: Elton John and Joni Mitchell. I also hear a bit of pop soul Whitney Houston; as well, it also rings of musical theater epic sweeping belting ballads, like something you might hear in Joseph and the Technicolor Coat. Her vocals are always beautiful and recognizable her own, but this is definitely not one of my favorites. Then again, I have been listening to her music since 2004...long before her big mainstream fame. Saw her a small intimate venues and knew back then she was annointed by stardust. But I also really relished those early days because Hollywood didn't have their forked hands in every thing her and the twins did. For example, this album cover imagery that speaks to "meta" fake worlds with digital avatar versions of human reality. This picture of her with A.I. superimposed glossiness is quite awful and feels more distant from the earthy soulful Brandi us early in her career appreciators came to love, and more like the Aquarian agenda of transhumanism over organic in person humanity. It has a sad otherworldly unconnected vibe which is infesting social media, the internet 🕷🕸🌐🤖🤳, and tragically ...even our interaction with nature. Brandi may have Washington woods roots, but the tech mafia of government and Hollywood appear to have lassoed her into their robotic web to a great extent over the past 3 years.🕸🤖 Here's prayers🙏🏻that she sees what is happening and gets off the digital music machine train.
