I used a Palomar knot and went back to catching fish long before you finished this knot.

i can confirm this is the best knot my dad taught me this over 20 years ago he swore it was the best, so you know what i did i tested other knots out and this knot ive never heard a name for it and no one really knows it out of like 50 fishermen that i meet legit only 1 will do this knott, this knot has never failed me.

Newb question, so don’t attack me people! Can knots like this be wound up into the reel or are they supposed to remain hanging when casting? How much leader do you recommend when adding to braid?
@FTWQ
@FTWQ 5 күн бұрын
On average I will use a 3-4 ft leader. I tend to not have the knot wind into my reel. This knot is okay to go through you line guides though.

Very clean and right to the point. Thanks for the video. Others out there talk about random stuff for 20 mins before getting to the knot. Great video keep it up. Only suggestion is maybe use 2 different colored cords instead of using real mono. We can see it better. Other than that great job.

6/2/24. A young man, YING, that I met at a nearby lake helped me with my fishing tackle (I'm essentially a "beginner"), and told me the name of this knot, so I could look it up on KZfaq. Great. Thanks for putting the video up. - Jack

Palomar and Snell are the 2 best knots in my opinion. Cool thing about the Snell is the "popping" "snapping" action for getting it set quickly, in fish that are tricky to snag.

What do you recoommend if it is 50 lb mono to 50 lb braid? The 50 lb mono doesnt like to bunch up nice and neat.

Is this knot better than a triple surgeons knot? So many more steps and time to make this one. My dad always said, KISS (keep it simple stupid). 😂
