Looks like it was, in fact, the ACCT. Even though I had done the Grambo trick, I guess I hadn't turned it enough. I gave it an additional 1/8th turn in and the noise finally went away. I guess I'll keep doing that until it no longer works and then switch to MCCTs.

@@vegajay Thank you for the response and that’s great to hear! I was also curious if when you were using a power supply for testing the position sensor voltage if you read the current draw? I’m worried if there needs to be current protection for the 5V input in case the variable resistor inside burns up and shorts. Do you know if there’s circuit protection inside the MP transfer case? Edit: Just watched again and noticed it disconnects when not in park and is protected by the fuse for the cigarette lighter/accessories. Probably not as issue if it’s lasted this long then! Thanks again for taking the effort to make these videos and I wish y’all the best!

To lower trans temps, you MUST do a trans thermostat "delete". On the side of the trans, the thermostat is set to 175 deg, and at hiway speeds you will get 20 deg over that due to the air conditioning core being in front of the radiator.

Have you done the thermostat delete or added a aftermarket trans cooler? I seen you said this hasn’t changed in temps much.
@vegajay
@vegajay 2 жыл бұрын
Yes. I installed the Sure Cool thermo bypass a few months back. I did see cooler temps, but not as much as some of the guys on the Silverado forum. But then again I live in FL, so it gets pretty hot down here. It still gets to the operating temps of the 190s but it takes longer to get there. I haven't installed an aftermarket trans cooler yet. That's probably my next step. Also, to change the trans fluid and filter. I just 30k miles so I think it's time. BTW, I towed my boat last weekend on an hour and a half ride (21ft Sea Ray, dry weight 3,500 lbs + trailer) and highest it got was 205 degrees.

Good explanation on how the solenoid allows the pressure release from the top of the diaphram, which allows water flow to sprinkler heads. How long does the electrical tape fix work? I'd be concerned the tape would eventually break loose and plug up part of the line, but I guess you could flush that out since it would probably only impact one sprinkler head...

Why would you deter what the engineers factored into the design? I’m curious only because I recently purchased a 2017 GMC Sierra Denali ultimate with the 6.2 engine and 8 speed auto. The truck only has 25,344 miles. Isn’t that grille shutter supposed to help with mpg, engine performance and the cooling system?
@hdrolling
@hdrolling 3 жыл бұрын
They're designed to close at higher speeds (55 mph) to reduce drag and make the vehicle more aerodynamic, if they detect any type of over heating they open back up on their own. This mod pretty much just made a higher end vehicle like the lower end vehicles that don't come with this option.
@chriscarpenter8356
@chriscarpenter8356 2 жыл бұрын
@@hdrolling The problem is they fail and then they won't open or close. You don't need this option, it's junk. All it does is help emissions and mpg.

@Jose Duran Jr "Why would you deter what the engineers factored into design?" Have you seen all the TB, TSB, class action law suits against GM and their transmissions? Just the 8 speed alone has 60+ TBs over the past few years. GM tried to have one of these class action lawsuits thrown out claiming that the transmission problem are related to a design defect and not a manufacturing defect. Excerpt from an article regarding one class action suit: "GM has argued that these claims should be thrown out, as its express warranty only covers defects that relate to materials and workmanship, and not design defects. The suits claim that all 8L45E and 8L90E transmissions experience these problems, which implies the problems are related to a design defect instead, the automaker said."

@@14burrito2 This is JUNK. it doesn't do shit, but get your car warmer quicker in the winter. If you care about Aero Dynamics, you buy a sports car, this is a damn truck. The engineers love to "OVER ENGINEER" shit. This is Crap. My vehicle is a 2017 GMC Sierra, it has 82.000, and this broke (error U1510). I took a different approach, and used a Adruino and C++ to emulate the motor. In MA, the vehicle will not pass the inspection with a check engine light, and this CRAP does throw a check engine light so... This will cost from $250 to $400+ depending on the dealership's location, markup, etc, etc.

To be honest, pretty meh. I expected more noticeable results but I barely saw much change. Probably only like 5 - 10 degrees cooler. There may be other issues causing my temps increase. I’m starting to see a pattern. Once I start going over 78mph, that’s when the temps start to climb, especially if I’m not going a constant speed, like when passing. Maybe torque converter friction? IDK. The other day I got to 199 by the time I got off the highway. Right afterwards, sitting in local traffic, it peaked to about 210 before finally starting to drop after like 10 mins.
