OMW, everything I thought of is being done on this yacht. If and when my "ship does come in" I want to kill two birds with one stone .... run all my projects from here and still having the pleasure of traveling and exploring the world, hence why I would need a helicopter.

good lord, why put the owners cabin in the bow? Why do yacht builders continue to commit this absurd mistake? Great way to make sure the owner hates their experience under sail and only want to show up when the yacht is in port.

I'd be most curious to know what 'standards' are applied to military vessels that are not applied to yachts, but 'could' be. Do they use a different quality of steel? Is the hull thicker? Is the keel stronger? Is there more ribbing? Are there different quality standards for welds?

He's back. I just wrote you wondering where you were, you never responded. I heard that you are doimg a 'soft-retire'. I don't know what that means and I doubt it's true, but then figured that maybe it is. You're the OG of yachtube. The man, the myth, the legend. You can't retire yet, another 20 years at least
@yachtbuildersАй бұрын
Hi Cliff, I didn't see your message. Where did you send it? Anyway...I'm certainly not ready to retire yet. I'm about to sign another 5 year contract with N&J, and we are gearing up to increase output of videos.

This is what i love about this channel. Learning many things about yachts and yacht builders you would never know about and all of this from the comfort of your home while drinking, in my case, a cappuccino. Great one David, looking forward to seeing more about ARES and the motor sailing beauty that you showed.

I think that such an advanced company in the military field will demonstrate its quality on the superyacht sector as well. This must be like buying a road car of a team competing in Formula 1.

Interesting company. To make the switch from military vessels to yachts, I am sure there are skeptics. For me, I’ll wait til the end of the build. Strange how the master is near the bow and not amidship. I guess the two most recent crew hires will be in the cabins on the bow. Great video once again. Loving the fact that they actually built accommodations for crew to stay near the factory. This is becoming a major plus in yards doing refits, but first one I have heard of doing it for new builds.

So “all in” they’re still playing the 499GT game, and calling a sail assisted diesel electric “hybrid”. It’s kinda weird that they’re bothering to put hydroregeneration on a sail assisted motor yacht. But the industry really is grasping at “green”; don’t get me wrong, I’m all for it, I just can’t see this making more than 1% difference over the life of that particular yacht. Also, I’m not knocking the company. And definitely not knocking Turkish industry. I’m just a bit sad with myself that I expect something a bit more than pure marketing fluff.
@grondheroАй бұрын
You do realize the 499 GT has to do with regulations, don't you? If it's over 500GT, there are additional regulations to follow. In addition, the GT limit is more often a _customer_ decision rather than the builder's decision. The _customer_ decides what they want to purchase and if they want the additional measures put into place or not. And I think your "understanding" of the industry "grasping at green" is flawed. They aren't doing it to impress low-skilled, unemployed protestors, or college students crying that they have to pay back money they borrowed; they're improving their methods because _they_ are the ones seeing the effects and _they_ are the ones visiting the clear waters. Despite the movies, technology doesn't improve by leaps and bounds, it's done in incremental steps. About 100 years ago luxury yachts were spewing black clouds of smoke as they traveled to and fro. Of course, if they didn't improve by "making more than 1% difference," people would be whining that they aren't trying to go green. Pay attention long enough and you'll notice that there are improvements done every single year, sometimes every single new yacht build.
@bernardkealey6449Ай бұрын
@@grondhero that’s my point. The regulations get tougher. And safer and higher performance.
@grondheroАй бұрын
@@bernardkealey6449 Out of necessity. You wouldn't have a cruise ship and a kayak require the same safety standards. There's a bit of common sense involved. In addition, your first sentence you're implying the builder is to blame when it's the customer's choice. But please, if you're doing more than virtue signalling, show us a video of your lake boat having been certified with Lloyd’s Register of Shipping for Class A yachts.
@realulliАй бұрын
Adding Hydrogeneration costs them almost nothing. The motor is already there, most of the electronics are already there. Usually, a boat's speed is limited by the hull speed. So, if you're sailing you can just as well collect some energy from the water.

Hi Mr. Daid Seal, I'm new to the channel, and have been looking through many of your video's and learning about many of the shipyards out there, I wold like to complement you for your great and informative viewings that you have been posting great job and keep up the great work that you do, I have a few questions with this particular shipyard Moonen, through your video I had learned that they use to produce an 84' yacht and a ninety'esh yacht would they produce an 84' foot yacht again if someone were to be interested again? and two would you be viewing the long history of the shipyard of Astondoa in Spain one day? once again looking forward to your next reportage and keep up the great work that you and your team do thx

Dear David, please be serious and acknowledge that Naval Yachts didn‘t do something special. They just copied the FPBs created by the Dashews. I know you are aware of that since you are in the business for a long time. The XPM is just a knock off. Good boat though but i‘m quite dissapointed of the missing credits to Linda and Steve. The XPM like the Arksen are shameless copies.
