interesting vid, Zac. I've been watching more SAK vids to improve the usefulness of mine, including the wanting to learn to use the awl for sewing. the awl has been one of the tools that I've (awl)ways used. maybe not for its traditional use, but a pointy, sharp, narrow piercing tool has so many uses I think one of the more useful tools on a SAK.

That was fun to watch. It was interesting to see how many people carry but don't know how to use. Or when to use what.

What is the legality of these? Double edged fixed blades concealed are a NONO in many states. They actually are worse than firearms in some places! (Seriously, firearms are misdemeanor and some fixed blades are felony in some places) I’ll have to check my local laws. You should check yours.

the compact is my favourite model, it's got the blade, the scissors, and the can/bottle opener. that's it. the onlt other way to get scissrs on the tool is the climber I believe and it adds an extra layer. I just need the blade and scissors. perfect tool. kinda hard to find these days which sucks

James Bowie was a damnable slaver, a peddler of human flesh and certainly no "hero"... It isn't the knife that is "infamous".. it's a tool. Yes I do own, collect, and carry such knives, I just don't laud the man as a hero and someone to look up to.

I was taught to use the stones the same as you use the strup, never cut into the stone and I was taught by an old Chinese man who use to hand sharpen knives for the whole neighborhood because he always made them as sharp as razors, he told me if you cut into the stones you’ll wear our the stones faster and you can achieve burs faster by not cutting into the stones, just saying I was taught this way about 50 years ago and have been sharpening knives this way ever since I learned how.

Ganzo Firebird is whole line of folding knives. The model on the video is FH922. Edit. Noticed the link in description points to the exact model :) I'm not sure what kind of scam they're running, but obviously they're stealing my money. They make you buy a knife and once it arrives they drop a new model and make you buy a new knife...

I carry a small like 5 inch crescent wrench that openes to almost an inch i got off ali express for cheap and if you want something smaller id look at them i have also concerned cutting something down to the right size because i use to carry a crescent branded one that only went to just over 1/2 an inch and that was to small

Im sure there are people that just listen to internet people about what should be in their pockets but i have been refining what i carry in my pockets everyday for over 20 years now and im not a fan of any of those multi tools screwdrivers so i have always carried a screwdriver with a couple bit storage so currently my screwdriver is the wera kraftform kompact and a Leatherman and a Milwaukee fast back and the other pocket has those 5 inch knipex cobras and a small crescent wrench that opens up to almost an inch and the smalles 21700 flashlight i have found its a sofirn if25 and a pen, a sharpie and kline mini screwdriver and a Leatherman squirt es4 those last 2 are more specific because i do low voltage stuff but the rest id carry regardless

The Bowie knife was a trailing edge camp knife (perfect for dressing game) that had its tip clipped just enough to create a point to still be able to thrust with, although it was not well suited for that regardless, because it was so wide. The fact that people became so adept at fighting with it merely demonstrates how adaptable people are.

Hey Kyle, I'm glad that you weren't actually attacked by the Cougar who intimidated you on the Trail in Utah, recently.... You really need to learn some basic survival skills concerning how to defend yourself and how you can actually intimidate Critters such as Cougars, Bears and Moose.... and don't forget to be packing AT LEAST two full 12-14 oz spray cans of Pepper Spray..... and remember, it isn't "Febreeze...!!" Yikes... if you're this much of a "Wimp," just stay inside and stay in the City!! Ted Schempp, Nashville

I started with a swiss army knife as a kid, moved onto locking and higher end folders and i did get sucked into the whole trendy stuff with titanium, this or that steel, gotta have xy and z. Ive moved away from that now that ive got many years in using my knives, i know that while k390, or s90v or whatever is super nice and premium, leatheans 420 or Victorinox's stainless will definitely get me through my day and even week most of the time. So for my main edc blade, it now gets chosen on comfort and preformance rather than any other metric. My favorites are actually all frn spydercos from their Japanese factory, and theres many other budget friendly folders that i can try. I would carry one of those paired with an Alox Victorinox from the 93mm line and sometimes a small fixed blade like an Izula 2. Lately as in the last week or so ive ditched everything from my pockets and started over. Right now i have an Endura 4 in VG10, a Leatherman Rebar, Microstream flaslight and a comb for my beard. Plus the typical stuff just about everyone carries: wallet, keys, phone, and lighter. Ive found that the mutlitool and the swiss army knife are too redundant and i dont need 5 blades on me. The rebar is small but definitely very capable with 2 blades as well. They take the brunt of all my cutting tasks with the locking main folder for when i need a one handed opening or have a use for a larger blade of a higher quality. Im currently thinking about even ditching a main folder and just go with a Leatherman Surge, with the possibility of getting more into traditional folding knives like Case and Great Eastern Cutlery or Rough Ryder and drop one of those in my pocket for times when it would make more sense or maybe be a little bit more appropriate than pulling out a big ole multitool to trim or open something. The problem i have with trying to simplify my edc to what i need and use is i love all these knives and gear items too much to fully settle on anything and essentially cancle the hobby all together. Itll be a life long evolution of trial and error and maybe the goal is to settle on a favorite carry for those times when im not trying anything new out. Something reliable to always fall back on.

Yeah I don’t care how expensive the knife is, I’d use what I had on hand. Plus, maybe your knife gets a nifty war wound! Aside from the blade snapping clean in half, you could take it to a knife sharpener and have it re-profiled!
