For ALL pistol calibers, a six inch insert is bare minimum, but should reallllly be 8-9 inches, preferably with O-rings on both ends to stabilize a "floating" barrel....
@ChrisfromKeyfarm
@ChrisfromKeyfarm Күн бұрын
Why is a 6-in insert the bare minimum when most pistols have a shorter than 6 in barrel?
@mroilcat-b6x
@mroilcat-b6x Күн бұрын
@@ChrisfromKeyfarm Simple, actually. For instance, a revolver with 4 inch barrel does not take into account the 2 inch cylinder and a 6 inch barrel produces more velocity than 4 inch barrel A shotgun insert adapter length is measured from mouth to anus, therefore about 2 inches of the adapter contains the bullet, therefore a 7 inch adapter is practically speaking the same as 5 inch revolver barrel. An 8 inch adapter therefor is about the same as 6 inch revolver barrel. Longer barrels produce more power/velocity because more powder burns in barrel, giving more power/velocity to bullet.
@mroilcat-b6x
@mroilcat-b6x Күн бұрын
@@ChrisfromKeyfarm And O-rings on both ends of an adapter quells lateral movement of the adapter inside the shotgun bore considerably. And 1 degree of movement in the barrel corresponds to about 14 inches in some direction @ 35 meters.

Possible to keep the clutch in the truck? Or would that diesel flywheel be to much mass? If you could then you could eliminate the gokart clutch. Wonder if some small Suzuki trans/case might make a better platform. I may have to hit up some junkyards now......
@ChrisfromKeyfarm
@ChrisfromKeyfarm Күн бұрын
Many people have mentioned keeping the original clutch but there is a whole lot that goes with that you would need the back of the crankshaft the entire flywheel , All that extra weight is terribly unnecessary when these clutches work just fine. And you can always have a pressure clutch like how you engage the tines on a front tine tiller.

I am curious how it would work if you stacked three or four flywheels to make a super heavy flywheel. Some old machines could do amazing things with a small engine with a bunch of kinetic energy stored in them.

I'm enjoying your channel, and can't wait to see the v-twin MG. You have inspired me to build a car, I have a 1911-ish Model T truck that I've put together using various parts, and I plan on doing a Predator v-twin mated up to a Suzuki Samari 5spd tranny that I just rebuilt. How do you determine how much gear ratio is needed to go x mph? I'd like the car to do 40 - 45 mph. Thanks again for the awesome KZfaq content.
@ChrisfromKeyfarm
@ChrisfromKeyfarm 2 күн бұрын
In the past it has been trial and error but I pretty much got it dialed in now, your application you'd probably want to start with 40 teeth on the input shaft and then if it had enough power drop down from there.

I'm not really a fan of the CVT , I have one on the golf cart and I have a lot more problems out of it than any clutch I have ( and I have a bunch) plus, they cost a lot more. They are great on a mini bike or go-kart but not really in this application. Thanks for watching.

I would use a torque converter style clutch on it. You'll get more variable speed and torque from the small engine.
