I remember everyone hating on cg Azog when the Hobbit came out, but looking back the CGI in the Hobbit series is still MILES better than many of the CGI today (Especially from Disney). The first time I saw BOTFA it took me several minutes to realize Dain was completely CGI also.

New Spiderman movies should be called Iron Man 2.0 They all are filled with bad CGI and unfunny jokes. they are so bad that it made me appreciate the amazing Spiderman franchise. Man of Steel, Dark Knight Returns & Spiderman 2 are one of the few EXCELLENT superhero movies ever made. The CGI is used perfectly and the story and acting are top-notch. All three characters are humanized and so relatable.

Looking at this, I can only marvel at the wonders of God's creation.

in short you had very skilled people working with a clear vision and they had a dead line was immovable so they were forced to work on it in the time frame

i agree with the vid, but i also think they got lucky with the perfect setting and character type. him being part octopus is such a good way to have an excuse for him to be wet and have the giant beard. it wouldnt make sense if he wasnt wet everytime we saw him tbh, and the moving tentacles helps distract from/minimize cgi issues. just more reasons for our brains to automatically accept him as real

When you have to restrict the way you tell a story (angles, screen time, etc.) because you have to acomodate to stuff like fully CGI stuff, thats when CGI has gone overboard. It should be just another tool to tell the story u want to tell, rather than the other way around. This movie did it so well

I always see Clu used as an example of bad CGI, but personally I thought the way he looked was perfect. It was uncanny as all hell, and for a villain who's just a facsimile of another guy, that's exactly what I think they were going for.
