To me it's an interesting bike, it rides well, handles very well, good engine and it is rather well designed and elegant. Not sure about the wings and el suspensions though.

I owned a 2016 street rod. I’ve since sold it because it was just too uncomfortable driving much more than 50 miles! I too tried different exhaust on it, but found it to be way too loud and a really bad droning noise at highway speeds.😢 Like you mentioned, I lost much of my low end torque With different exhaust on it. With the stock exhaust system, the engine was so lean that driving around 40 mph in 5th gear, it bucked and surged terribly! Addressing my concerns with the dealer, they told me to run the bike in second and third gears all the time at those speeds. I found their suggestion to be unworkable. It was revving so high at these lower speeds It just took away all the fun of cruising. so after riding for a long season in Minnesota, March through mid November I parted ways with the VRod. The look was killer! But as you mentioned the riding 14:01 position and drivability issues, I traded it for a year, newer Dyna. Oh how I wished I could have changed things around and kept the VRod, I just couldn’t do it. Watching your video today brought back a lot of great memories of my bike, but I still think I did the right thing by choosing a different model within the Harley Davidson lineup I really liked your video and will continue to watch you! 👍

That's a Gen-2 Adventure model. It came with the engine crash bars, plastic engine cowling, a full complement of quick release aluminum luggage - ie panniers and top case, plastic handguards {though on this particular bike these have been replaced with aftermarket aluminum reinforced ones), and a nicer windshield {although this has also been replaced with an aftermarket windshield and adjustable mount). I have a 2013 Adventure model that might be my favorite bike in 52 years as an avid motorcyclist, especially considering the tiny price per mile it has cost me to own so far. This particular bike has the cast wheels, though a little later, maybe even this same model year but certainly by 2016, you could opt for the XT model with tubeless spoked wheels. The spoked wheels were supposed to be a dirt upgrade, but I personally prefer the cast ones, as I have never seen one get damaged if ridden sensibly. Besides, I contend that the DL650 shouldn't be your first bike of choice if spirited dirt duty is a top priority. Therefore, the spokes are just an unnecessary maintenance woe in my opinion ...but that's just me. Thanks for the great review. I still love mine and always enjoy a DL650 vid. 👍

The new fairing is much better looking, with less buffeting I am a big fan. Problem is I still have buffeting so the first mod I did was add a bigger windshield from klockworks.

Had my Versey x300 for about 2 months and just passed the breaking point and had the first oil change. I have to say this little bike is a gem, took it off road up in the Sierra foothills, my brother on a Husquavarna 701, was surprised how well my little Kawa did. Fun bike, and so versatile, stock tires handled okay, but with some 50/50 it would hamdle way better.

I have a 21 Pan America, and it is absolutely amazing. I got mine late in 2021, and I have had virtually no issues. There have been a few software updates early on to fix some minor issues, but this bike has been a dream and a lot of fun to own. I do believe the PA is very underrated and the new BMW GS is a little overrated. Either way, if you are in the market for a large adventure bike you will need to test ride a Harley, BMW, Honda, Ducati and KTM and any other contender and buy what fits you best. I did this, all of the other bikes were awesome, I almost bought an Africa Twin, but one ride on the PA and I was sold. I have no regrets. Buy something and get out and ride.

I have owned 2 1976 Hondamatics. I still own one of them. I should offer a correction on a couple of items. 1. the 750 automatic was only offered for 3 years, not 4. 2.the "Hondamatic" was only offered in 1976 and had that distinctive " banana muffler " with a 4into 1 header. As an asside, Craig Vetter was contracted to supply Fairings etc. until Hondaline started designing their own. The bike in the video came from the factory with a fairing, double bucket seat and probably hard saddle bags as did both of mine, I also had a small trunk that was keyed alike to the ignition. These 750's are extremely rare and are becoming more desireable as the years go by and are being restored and shipped to the EU for premium prices, ( sometimes into the low 5 figures.

The "power band is in 4th and 5th gear?" Seriously keep pulling up on the electronic windscreen. It'll move just fine once you've broken the teeth off the gear drive. 1st 2nd and 3rd are close for a reason. Unlike Texas the place of her birth has mountains. And not little ones. My eyes are actually burning from this incompetent video.... I can't take anymore. Pssswt.... power band is in an RPM range.(RPM means revolutions per minute, as in what the tachometer is reading and has nothing to do with gear selection.) Also, the 100 in it's name has nothing to do with the anniversary edition. And the model that you're riding, if want to call it that, doesn't have the semi active electronic suspension. But then again I don't think people want actual facts so keep on keeping on I guess.
@ridingwithmarshall
@ridingwithmarshall 25 күн бұрын
Thanks for your useful input. Yes I got the S model mixed with base model for suspension. This happens when you are handed keys to a bike without knowing you're taking it out. FYI, I own a Moto Guzzi V85TT, AND I live at the base of the ROCKY MOUNTAINS. 1- 3 gears open up a lot more with RPM and power once the engine has a first service and couple thousand miles. Did you read the title, or was that too challenging for you? It's a FIRST RIDE. Normally I block trolls from my channel, but I'll leave you up for the giggle.

Some testers who compared both ( incl. myself ) can, confidently, state that the el. suspension on THAT bike - is not anything of the extraordinary. The el. shock-absorption on MT09SP / Tracer 9GT(+) work better. It doesn't do any harm ( except financial ) on the V100S, but the the way it functions - the need in it is not really there .... On the other hand - The S version DOES look better ( to my taste )

Good vid ...pretty sure the base model has no electronic suspension, it is only on the "S" model. It also has a 6 axis Imu, and quickshifter. My dealer has a few base models ,already traded in for the S models. The active aero opens at 45mph in road and tour, they stay closed in sport ,and remain open at any speed in rain mode. The ohlins suspension alone is worth the upgrade to the "S"...

Hi Marshall, apart from a gimmick and more things to go wrong, what was the purpose of the "wings"? Also you mentioned that you have ridden the Triumph Rocket 3, which one? the GT or the R or the first monster they bought out? I've ridden both the 2300cc and the 2500 (GT I think, there's a video). The old one looked cooler, but had bars made for a giant. The 2500 is far more refined. The fins on the Guzzi are Adaptive Aerodynamics, and the windshield will do that too if set that way in the menu? They do that to block wind. The idea is to have a fairing when you need it, and ride naked when you don't. Does it work? Well, it didn't NOT work...
