What is the brand/model of that sod cutter and did you rent it? If so, from where? Home Depot lets you rent them, but I dont have a truck to haul it. This one looks like it would fit in my Terrain if i put the back seat down. The employee at HD told me their sod cutters would be too large to fit in the back of my SUV and id need to rent one of their pickup trucks to transport it.

What may I use as my container and how do you prepare it? I have ZERO gardening experience (I have managed to get my common grocery fresh produce to root using just water, now I'm trying to learn how to plant them properly.)❤

I am in MN and the ziploc bags worked best for me and was the easiest. Didn't have to save all those jugs, didn't have to cut the jugs and tape and all that. Maybe it is because we get so much snow and cold here that I had such good luck. thanks for sharing all your info. I didn't do it this year and am so mad at myself. I could of saved so much money!

I love these. I have a question. The Bumble bees land on these & just stay there, sometimes overnight. It is almost as if they are drunk off of the flowers. But they fly away the next day. Is there a intoxicating effect from these? Does anyone know?

Maybe put the bags standing up in a shallower tote. Since the bags are flexible, they'll fill up the entire space with soil while still keeping them separate.

I inherited a beautiful lawn from my grandparents with two wonderful crepes, i never saw my pawpaw prune it so i never have. They were about 7ft with blooms completely to the bottom until last year when my aunt came and too it uppon herself to trim them back. Now the centers have dead looking limbs that havent grown any leaves at all. Should i prune those off? I really dont like the look of those that get lopped off in a straight line!

I’m a licensed landscaper here in the great state of Texas. It is totally ok to top the trees if they are next to a structure but you must do a laser cut across and not lop sided cuts. If you trim them even like a laser cut horizontally they come back very nice. It preferably best done when they have no leaves. If you let them grow to tall next to a house or building there is the potential possibility of inviting pest into your structure being that they produce a sweet sap that ants love. Trim away but do it CORRECTLY and watch out for a new problem a lot of people are noticing, bark scale. When you see black limbs get yourself a good pesticide or your loose your blooms and maybe even your precious Myrtle. Cheers 😂

Some of my earliest memories are hiding under my grandmother's crepe myrtles, squeezing the full buds to make them "bloom". We always had crepes until we were living in the Middle East for 14 years (there we had bougainvillea). Now we are back in Georgia, but living on a new property & need to plant some. Thank you for your delightful video.

Hello..Love your content. I have a question..I bought a very young black diamond Crepe Myrtle 3 years ago from a nursery and it had beautiful blooms on it. I planted it in a sunny location and it gets plenty of water and I do fertilize it as well but every summer I do not get any blooms,, What could be going wrong? This is a very young 3 trunk crepe..Thanks so much

Great video! Glad you even included some of the 'hic-ups' that you encountered so that we knew what to do in case of a similar problem. I just wish we could have seen it once it lightened up and was all finished curing.

Another interesting fact about the Crape Myrtle not told often is their beautiful Fall color as their leaves change. Gorgeous Orange,Red, and Yellow can all be found on the same tree. Mine is truly spectacular in Fall.

I have a first cousin from Michigan who came to visit me here in North Alabama. She went crazy over my Lavender Crape Myrtle tree that is 18 feet tall and almost as wide across. She bought one to take home with her. I tried to tell her they are warm weather trees but she insisted on giving it a try. Of course it died in Michigan up near to Flint.

You need to cut back the branches a bit in the fall. Pruning them not only helps to give them a uniform shape but encourages blooms.

I tried growing mine about three years ago and have since collected seeds to replant every year. It is the easiest to grow from seed for this non-gardening person. I generally plant peonies and shrubs that require little to no care. These are the first real annual flowers I planted and love the results.

Ok I’m glad I came across your video! We bought a home with a mature Crape Myrtle in upstate SC last year. I saw a ton of them being whacked off around town and wondered if I needed to do the same, but decided to leave it completely alone (I like nature to be wild anyway). Now I’m happy I left it! It’s beautiful, full and lush with leaves, BUT only a few flowers so far (and it’s late June). Maybe my variety blooms later?

Thank you so much for your video! I so appreciate hearing you talk about crêpe murder! I live in the Houston Texas area and for whatever reason that is the gardening choice for so much of our area. Then you get out away from the city and you begin to see the big mature trees that they have left to grow and be beautiful on their own . I just never understood why they chopped them off and made them look so bad all winter long. You answered so many questions of mine, but I do have a couple more for you. We have one single tree on our property that someone planted 10 to 15 years ago and it still seems scrawny and has thin trunks. It is only about 8-10 feet tall and just doesn’t bloom anywhere near like all the other ones in our area. Our property is commercial and there are not any other crêpe myrtles on our property. I was wondering, do they need each other to pollinate, grow, and bloom stronger? I thought maybe the soil was not good and had considered moving it but you said they will adapt so well to soul types. I don’t believe it is a dwarf or the shrub version. I just think it should be much more mature and large for as old as it is. Last question, I see so many planted out in the open along roads and driveways. Is this the best way to use them on the property or can they be incorporated in with other trees in technically sunny and shady spots throughout the day? Thank you so much for your time creating the video and answering my questions. I appreciate it and look forward to watching more of your videos!
