The only reason I don't fly to KSAN is the poor management from Signature. Horrible.

Live in a neighboring state as we own a 2nd home in Seven Hills which is near the airport so we fly in to KHND all the time. Been flying since 17yrs old. So while getting my multi,vfr, ifr ratings, was renting and after a while got a used Cessna 170, moved up to a 180 and 30yrs later got my dream plane or my nearly new with only 950hrs on a 2010 Cirrus SR22 GTS-x G3 and really wanted the CAPS system. Also the Cirrus imo beats the Cessna or Mooney. Moving from a Cessna to a Cirrus was night and day. Side sticks, power and digital displays made flying so much easier imo. I only fly recreational, sport and private so love my G3. Also jets or even multi pistons are so expensive these days. Lastly imo the Cirrus is a very fast little airplane and love how quite it is compared to a Cessna 180 which is loud and the high wing make it harder to see when turning, its the one thing always hated about the Cessna170-180 that high wing. Pardon the rant just never seen a video with something so familiar or close to home (aircraft and location etc.) Stay safe!
The colors and detail of this Cirrus are just beautiful!! Who knew that Day-Glow yellow fit so nicely with Sterling gray?! Great video!

How was the runway condition when you were there? A video from a few months ago showed huge potholes all over the place.
@AdamMcClean5 ай бұрын
So let's say the runway condition has 'character'! Perhaps the most rugged hard surface I've landed on, but I didn't notice any potholes that would've caused damage or control problems. I believe it may have been partially resurfaced before we made this trip. But don't take my word for it!

You are going to get your Commercial through FAA? My plan is to get my IR, ME and CPL all on the FAA through my 61.75 license. I spoke to the DPE about it and I was made aware that as long as you have any ICAO recognised PPL then you can get more FAA Certificates.@@AdamMcClean

Hi Adam what an experience flying over vegas.Hope you remember our trek up snowdonia with your camraman dave and eleanor.Watching a few of your flights must be great , are cessna hard to learn in , i was going to have lessons at speke .I love cali , your flight over hollywood sign (my name was on back of first l,lol) how do you get permission over major city like that ,we drove san fran to L A then on to san diego then up to palm springs then vegas.Want do do rv on 66.We Still not had that coffee maybe one day when your not travelling world.
@AdamMcClean6 ай бұрын
I remember it incredibly well! So does Nell. And she sends her love! Cessnas aren't too hard to learn in. And I can't recommend it enough. I think you'd love it. We could perhaps fly somewhere for a coffee if you fancy. So the airspace in that area is uncontrolled believe it or not! As long as you stay below a certain height so as not to affect traffic at LAX. And in the US the air traffic controllers are always so helpful, so even when you do need permission they often grant it no problems at all. I adore all the places you've mentioned, especially Palm Springs. And an RV trip sounds incredible. Perhaps I'll see you out there!

That was a great video! You experienced what they call the US “The Cirrus Life” I first flew than plan back in 2005 when I was a student pilot. A wealthy executive from the Silicon Valley took me out in a brand new one. No one had them then. The first all glass cockpit. When I climbed in and hit the master switch and saw that dash lite up I thought I was in a spaceship. I will never forget lining up on the runway. The power was amazing as the plane took off like a rocket compared to the flight school planes. I got to fly her low along the coast line. I saw people waving from the beach. I flew her right between the towers of the Golden Gate Bridge. That flight changed everything for me. The owner of the flight school told me I made a mistake by going up in the Cirrus. He told me I would be spoiled forever. He was right. Once you fly in a Cirrus it’s hard to go back. Only a very few get to own one as they are very expensive and way past the average budget. Just under 1 million new. Most people will never sit in a Cirrus much less fly one. If you get a chance I highly recommend taking a ride. It’s like a Lamborghini with wings! There is nothing else like it. For those that can afford one there is nothing like “The Cirrus Life”
@AdamMcClean6 ай бұрын
Thank you! That's very kind of you. The Cirrus Life indeed! Exactly as you say, the Lamborghini with wings. When I did the transition training from steam gauges it felt every bit like getting into the Space Shuttle. It took some time getting used to it gliding like one! You're so right in that it does change things and totally spoil you as a pilot. I do have lots of fun in the humble Cessna, but I absolutely adore flying Cirrus aircraft. Thank you for your comment and the story!
