Almost 25 years ago, I had the honor of being the first oboist in this piece. To this day, it is one of my favorite symphonies. Those effortless fluter uns should be an honorary mention here.

Will be performing this in the next few months, spent hours looking for a recording that had such “edge” and list in the second phrase of the 2nd movement excerpt. It really captures the ambience of the work, bravo.

i think all too fast and energic, not bad but there are many better exemples, its all solos are recitative and expression more than etude))

Your vibrato on those top notes is so pretty. This is my absolute favorite playing of the counter-melody. I love this bassoon duet so much.

Learning this piece for a chamber music festival next month in Ischia, Italy. Listening to as many recordings as I can for a variety of tempi and approaches to articulation ( I am playing the 1st violin part) - this certainly gave me another perspective and got my head out of the music ! Quite fun and what a lovely piece it is

Bravissimo dear Malte! It actually sounds so much like the recordings of Dag Jensen! 😃 Soundwise, string-bassoon balance, articulations... But of course different in the most important thing. Your great personality in it! I loved it and the love story behind as well !! 😎👍

@@malterefardtbassoon It must be hard to not only characterize the music but the breath control as well. I play double bass so I don’t have the firsthand experience but bassoon must be very hard. Definitely worth the effort though.
