You have an amazing harvest. I have a tiny gala tree, and the apples are ravaged by coddling moth they last few years. I wrapped the apples in stockings one year, but I'm not willing to do that anymore. I just cut away the damaged bits and get what I get.

What a nice bunch of apples. my trees are relatively new so only a few pounds of apples. i do a lot of crab apples though. I slice apple slices ff the core and flash freeze for eating and baking with during winter (they are quite good partially frozen) and make vinegar and/or apple juice from the cores. I also make quite a bit of juice, apple sauce and jelly. if I have lots, I will dehydrate as well. Everything looked delicious

You are such a champ to hand peel, core and slice those apples! I invested in a (fairly inexpensive) apple peeler, corer and slicer and absolutely LOVE it! Makes these kind of projects go much faster!

Where do you buy the scented geranium seed? They are so pretty. Also apple crisp is easy and delicious

Hello - I’m not sure where Beth purchased the seeds, but I purchase geranium seeds from Swallowtail Garden Seeds. They grow really well and it’s fun to be able to grow geraniums from seed. I learned about it from Laura at Garden Answer… she has videos about starting them from seed. Have fun!

I make applesauce with Lodi apples, a tart one. Cook down add sugar to taste. Sometimes make cinnamon apple chips in the oven also. Thanks for the recipe. Does this freeze well?

Hi ! As a fairly recent follower, I've tried to go back to review past posts on KZfaq and adore most things you offer for those of us that are passionate about gardens. It would be great to know who all the faces are that appear on your property. I have no idea who Keith or Emma are but assume I've seen a son & daughter in posts. I'm certain you have employees & family helping but for those of us that are newer, it would be a pleasure to know who is who and what they do. Greetings from Wisconsin !

Great question, Emma is my niece who worked for us up until she got married last year. Keith is my brother who decided to follow a dream and move out west from Ohio with his family to start a nursery. Rilley is my daughter who designs, and Brayden is my son who edits the videos. We have an intro coming out that will help folks get to know the faces on the farm. 😀

This sounds like the plans for us too. Big dreams, lots of work and hopefully many happy faces coming into our farm to enjoy the space we are working tirelessly to create. We’ve just finished installing I think the last of our solar lighting which my cousin drove almost 5 hours to come and see tonight. She is amazed that while I am working casually in town and my hubby is working part time that we are achieving so much here. Our dahlia seedlings are up, our daffodils and tulips are flowering, sweet peas are almost opening as are the ranunculus, sunflower seed and successions have started popping up, the zinnias are starting to poke their heads through and the Gerberas are starting to shine. It’s been crazy busy meeting trucks of mulch in our gumboots and pjs as they arrived just after 7am this morning. It’s joyful and brings us hope of a beautiful summer ahead. Can’t wait to see what you guys get up to. We are hoping that I will learn how to use my phone to video tape and create some video footage of what we are doing here this summer…..camera shy folks here who would rather not be in front of the lense but we suspect it will be a progression of learning to get comfortable with it. You are truly an inspiration. Im 54 in a few months and right now I wish we were 10 years younger with all of the work before us, but we will get there as will you with your dream. It’s going to be amazing and I can’t wait to see your journey further unfold. :)

A lot of work has been accomplished and certainly a lot to go. I understand where and why you are doing what you are doing but yet I struggle a bit. For the established beds like the roses, I can't help but think it would be an asset to have some mature plants growing and therefore I would be trying to incorporate the green houses into the area whilst maintaining as many of the established beds as you can in the same location. Being able to see a mature version of something you are selling is a huge asset - rather than just relying on a tag on a pot. Feeds into a u-pick option too and maintains the bread and butter to generate money while you develop. Just some thoughts I have...but good work none the less. Thanks for sharing.

We attended my best friends fathers funeral at the very very end of our flower season. I had picked the best of what we had left here in our field and had made an arrangement to place at his grave. I am so glad that I had done this as when we arrived at the graveside part of the service the funeral folks placed the beautiful flower arrangement that his family had purchased on the casket and then lowered that with his coffin leaving nothing at his graveside to celebrate his life. I had travelled for 2.5 hours with my flower arrangement and had thought it would join many others. My friends mum found out that I had the flowers in the car and was overjoyed that there would be flowers sitting on top of the graveside cover after his service. Your cross is so beautiful I truly wish I had of thought of something like this to celebrate his life. Now Ive seen this beautiful creation I can’t unsee it. Thankyou for sharing this with us. Deepest sympathies to you his friends and his loving family x
