5:40 this corresponds exactly (i think) to tiago fortes highlighting method which goes 3 levels deep
@toolsontech
@toolsontech 2 күн бұрын
Yeah, it's very similar. Think my only modification is that mine's aimed to be folded in and Tiago uses different levels of highlighting to allow quick skimming of notes. A method that I also tried but didn't work for me because I would need to focus to avoid reading the whole note, still use that a lot though since it does allow for focus points in the text.

I have only recently begun to use Logseq "or real" in my work and it is a Godsend. And it is really thanks to you two that I was ready for it. Yes, I have looked at Obsidian and Tana, and somehow I keep returning to Logseq and it just works so well. It is a both simple and has so many possibilities. It works for me. And I just want to say thank you both.

Bas & Dario ... I've learned so much from your independent tutorials on Logseq in particular and PKM in general. So it's always a treat to see you guys in conversation. The unexpected bonus in this case was your frank and heartfelt personal remarks at the end. Thank you. I wish you both all the best.

Thanks for this video Dario; I know you are heavily invested in Logseq based on the videos and courses that you have prepared. Bas too produces wonderful content. My loyalty to Logseq has been tested by the duration of this development hiatus. I still believe that Logseq most closely approximates my “perfect” tool with the fewest barriers to defining structure, entering data and retrieving it, but I’m questioning my sanity for choosing to remain on something that seemingly cannot evolve from beta. I tried leaving for Obsidian, and spent weeks trying to recreate my workflows, but the ease of operation just wasn’t there. The opposite in fact: the variety of Obsidian plugins and their settings just adds unwanted complexity. But I have stopped my Logseq supporter sub until I see some evidence of progress. On the plus side, an elementary project structure in Logseq has (again) simplified my life hugely and enabled a level of productivity that I could not have achieved by relying on memory or personal organisation alone. So, it seems I’m married to a beta.

I love your Mural board! I studied it in detail and thought it was a great summary of the requirements for personal knowledge management. I've come to many of the same conclusions, but I've found that GTD and To-do lists don't work well for me. I agree with keeping to some basic principles of knowledge management and not worrying about the tools. Seems like the last thing you need is another book suggestion, but, like you, I've been struggling to find a good solution to this problem and I think you might find Personal Kanban a good replacement for GTD and To-Do lists.

Quick capture is also why I really love Tana, it is much slicker than Obsidian, and I am always itching to pull out my laptop when I want to add notes. But Tana's word processing is so ugly ;__; and I have great annoyance with needing the internet to access all my notes. Thanks for this video and helping me to feel not so crazy in combining tools!

I'm an Obsidian user. And I was looking for "Create a New Note" in LogSeq, but found it more complex. What's wrong in giving an option to Create a New Note and Create a New Graph, as a gesture of "Simplicity"?

Hi Dario! As always, great video and message clarity and tone. I wanted to ask about your sub-process to drop the data within your Tana inbox once is captured to your Logseq environment. Do you export the node manually to Markdown or did you automate that process in some manner?

Welcome back, Dario! Glad to know you're doing well. In regard to using different apps for different purposes, but wanting to have a master index of important information no matter where I saved it previously, whether in other apps or in local files or folders, I am in the process of fleshing out a "Pointers to External Resources" page in Logseq. I've found Hookmark (formerly Hook) for macOS to be invaluable in streamlining this process. (I'm not affiliated, just a grateful user.)

Maybe I have not seen enough PKM focused videos but, sir, you are in the right direction in terms of practical content on this subject. Maybe there is a course. Maybe a book. But you are definitely on to something. My sense is so many of us who have actually tried such apps (Evernote, OneNote, Workflowy, Roam, Obsidian, Clickup, Things3, Mem, Tana, Heptabase ... the list is endless) want to think less about the apps and the risk of non-stop migration but simply how to think about organizing the process with the tools we have. I think for many people, they know that they want to focus on a small set of online apps. For example, Slack, Google Calendar and Obsidian. Or keep everything within the Google or Microsoft respective ecosystems. Your whiteboard of sticky notes is a great start for most people to think about how they can organize things. Maybe keep it simple with Workflowy and tags. I, for one, am strongly considering pushing away from the more complex apps with so many features including AI. Anyway, it seems like you've been on a break but I am eager to see what you come up with next.

Haven't finished the video yet, but since you asked in the beginning: I for one do like the presentation method of the speaker going through all the bullets on the screen. There is value in both seeing the bullets (or cards in this case) , while hearing your commentary over them. My only critique would be to zoom in closer so we can see the parts you're reading better. The text is just barely large enough for me to see on my phone. P.S. glad you are alive, welcome back to the land of the living!

I go the other direction - from using multiple apps to streamlining to LogSeq. Initially I thought LogSeq will never work for task management and would never replace my ToDoist, but it does. With its flexibility and queries, one can build the same project and label and container structure like in ToDoist. As for project management, projects without calculations and complex time schedules I handle in LogSeq with ease. For complex projects with costs calculations and gantt charts I have a vvery sppecial "system" - I use SQL, which frees me from a uncountable net of dialogues of specialized PM software, which gets very complex, while being still often limiting. And I do use Obsidian for a specific logging task, just becasuse it's somewhat difficult to create completely separate workspace in LogSeq.

This level of synthesis shows that you can ... wait for ... use these types of tools effectively. Most other channels are missing the forest for the trees. They say "Try X, it's the best knowledge management!" Except that they evidently are not skilled at knowledge management because, otherwise, they would have gone through the universe of KM apps to arrive at what works best. You have taken it a step further to overview the entire universe of what everyone should be doing. Kudos to you!

Good to hear from you again. My 2c: for personal relationship management, I’ve tried lots of apps and settled upon Dex. Although it lacks email capabilities that seem important to you, Folk talks about ‘closing’ and other commercial CRM paradigms for sales, etc, whereas Dex (or Clay) really is a personal CRM that helps me organise my network contacts, and prompts me to reach out to people at certain intervals etc.

Voww man, I've just discovered Logseq today while I was looking for PKM apps in Linux app stores. It has amazing features, approaches and a very modern interface. There is also another app called Trilium that has similar approaches and very nice looking modern UI. As a matter of fact it is really hard to choose between the both, so I think I'll stick with the both. Thank you very much for all these nice tutorials.

Awesome content!! I'm doing a book reading list using the same concept with blocks. If I want to add a property called review, in this example. Can I have logseq to retorn a shorter sentence where I define the maximum length of the paragraph? But I'd like that not messing around the config and CSS file. Is there a property or something else to be defined inside the table? Thank you!

Those folder structuring methods are absolutely unnecessary in modern software with tagging. Zettelkasten and other could work together with tagging, but usually they only drag user's Focus away from true data markup. Tagging/linking is more like making folders in more dimensions. Google drive has tags that look like folders and most people don't even realize they're tags and that they can assign any number of folders to a file. So some build their folder structure methods in a good will, not realizing they actually downgrade their data management... Tagging and linking is super simple, but requires change of mind.
