How many days do you typically wait in between first oli layer and the second detail layer?
@ClaversOdhiamboArt
@ClaversOdhiamboArt 2 күн бұрын
Provided I didn't use any pure white in the first layer (since in my experience it dries slower than any other color), a day or two is usually just enough time to proceed to the final layer.

This is such a masterpiece! Love to see the full process. I find the acrylic under painting really interesting because your under painting process is my finished product lol. This video inspires me to venture out and grow as an artist☺️

Haha...that's good to hear. Although to be fair the grisaille can very well be a finished piece on its own; that just depends on your style and what the type of paint you use can allow. I, for instance, can't go much beyond that level of detailing with acrylics and that's why for the stages that follow I switch to oils.

How do you manage to have your paint go on so smoothly? Is it the type of paint or a technique
@ClaversOdhiamboArt
@ClaversOdhiamboArt 2 ай бұрын
It's got to be a combination of both since even with the same technique I can't achieve the same "smoothness" with acrylics.

@@ClaversOdhiamboArt I know but this is really impressive for the scale of work, and how this did resonate with the owners expectation and liking. A suggestion, what about the process before the painting starts, that is making of the concept, maybe on photoshop..I believe painting starts from there.

Thanks a lot :) sectioning the canvas/wall etc into grids can make it less overwhelming though (if you ever need to paint one of these)...coz then you just treat each section as a separate "small" painting.

Absolutely amazing work! thank you for sharing. thinner can be very toxic overtime as it absorbs into the skin. wearing gloves when using it will be safer.
@ClaversOdhiamboArt
@ClaversOdhiamboArt 5 ай бұрын
Thanks Lauren. The solvent I'm using here is kerosene, which also has its own side effects, especially when inhaled. I rarely ever use thinner except when cleaning really hardened brushes but when I do I only come into contact with it for a few seconds at a time and in a well-aerated space. Gloves can't work for me because feeling the texture of the bristles is a big part of cleaning brushes but thanks for the concern :)
