It sounds like they remixed different parts of different roars the original had (the had two that he roared the most, and then there was a new third one for his death scene). It sounds like people remixed the original roars and added some heavy distortion and loudness boosting to it, to make Godzilla sound more like a monster whose voice would be loud enough to make your ears pound! I wanted to see Godzilla Minus One in theaters, but sadly never had the chance to. I’ve heard one theatergoer say that the roar actually made him shudder in terror whenever it was heard in the movie as it played as the guy was watching it in the theater! I wish I could’ve known for myself.

They didn’t just rerecord the original roar. The original Godzilla actually had two main roars. One was the iconic roar that you hear re-modified in just about ever new Godzilla movie, and the other was the lesser known loud growling roar that kinda sounds like a bad motor. They combined both of these roars for Godzilla Minus One, and from what I’ve observed it sounds like they added some reverb as well. It can be heard pretty clearly for those who know what the two original roars sound like. It also seems like they may have added a decent amount of reverb to the roar as well to make it sound a bit more haunting. Ye, I know. I’m being a nerd… 🤓

While I’ve seen a lot of hype, I personally think that from what I’ve seen on KZfaq , Ultraman Rising wasn’t my cup of tea. While I do love Godzilla, If I do start watching Ultraman, I’ll probably start with the original or even Shin Ultraman if that’s any good. It looks alright, it’s just not the way I might start my Ultraman phase.
