What happened to boiling the pierogi before frying with onions? I’ve never seen them made this way. My Polish grandmother never skipped the boiling part of making pierogi.

I'm still looking for a recipe similar to the way we made them at my parent's German Club in PA. They weren't processed down to a batter but more finally chopped than yours.

I'm so glad you told me not to use actual lemon juice because I had already squeezed two lemons and watched your video first. I kinda figured that it wasn't a good idea however your the only one that said not to use it!

Hi Suzie! Thank you so much for the video and instructions. I've never canned anything before, but I've always wanted to. Your video helped me a lot. I did research on the process and decided to go with a water bath so as not to buy special equipment yet. The jam is processing this very moment lol. I appreciate the tips and expect it to turn out well! 😊

Can you used unpeeled potatoes?
@saxon1177
@saxon1177 Жыл бұрын
That's almost exactly how I make them except I caramelize my sweet onions in a little olive oil & butter first and then I add them to the potatoes. It gives them a little different flavor, not that it's a better flavor, just another flavor to choose from.
@jamming8519
@jamming8519 Жыл бұрын
what you SHOULD have done is grate the potatoes in a bowl WITH water. It stops the oxidation. also, you should have rinsed the potatoes under cold water until the water in the bowl was clear. Next step is to dry the potato as much as possible When you don't dry the potatoes, they'll get soggy! THEN add the onion flavoring. Skip the egg. It's NOT needed. Nor is the flour! My potato pancakes turn out golden brown and crispy every single time!

How do you thicken it? I followed your exact recipe and measurements and it still looks too liquidy.

Thank you so much for this recipe! I remember banana cream pie from my youth being made with a blended banana pastry filling, but Mom tossed Dad’s cookbook out (yes, you read that right) because the binding had broken, not knowing that’s what identified it as the good cookbook, so I thought I’d never be able to make it again because I couldn’t remember the recipe. Then I saw this & hallelujah!
