The Audi was faster & had position. The Porsche should have relinquished said position & let the Audi pass & continue racing. Crashing out ended any hope of regaining the lost position.

Danny Ric used to be considered the best overtaker of recent seasons. He could work out a faster line against a driver who was taking a slower defensive line and simply drive around him. In the Mansell/Senna/Prost era we saw cars following very closely through corners and this made overtaking a lot easier. But Our Nige won his world title in a year when Williams had lost its dominant edge.
