Kona bikes are so wicked cool they are one of my dream bikes to build but in my area they are very hard to find. If you do find one they want an arm and a leg for a clapped out bike. But someday I will find one. Great build it turned out beautiful. Keep up the great work and stay safe out there.

Remind me with what is going on with Organic Transit with their ELF velomobile the original owner/inventor just bought the company back from the buyer who only managed to have 2 units built for research purposes (I was one of the people on the team to help build the final 2 using the original production) Enjoy your videos a lot being a certified e-bike tech. Would you ever wanna restore older adult trikes like Miami Sun Trikes or Classic Schwinns?

I love the vibe in your videos I remember mountain biking from the early days we have come so far. I have a couple of modern up to date mountain bikes but still love the old stuff. I have a real old pace with some of the very first hope discs on and Shimano XT thump shifters I still have a lot of love for the stuff that started this amazing sport. Keep up the great work❤.😊

i love YOUR work. It inspired me to build a few myself. I Did a 90's Brigestone that I kept the Canti breaks and a 90's GT Arette I welded on disk mounts and made a gravel bike. Now I have a 93 Kona Lava Dome just like this one and cannot decide which way to go on it. I have to ask, Where do you get your decals. When I do my work I want to do it rite and it has been a struggle to find the correct decals.

When I built my first mountain bike and put on a suspension fork, I didn’t understand about bearing races, set up my fork just like that-no race. I rode it for a year and sold it that way. Makes me cringe now, but I was 16…

We are all learning. The first bike I restored was a "10-Speed" that my dad an I found at the local dump. I fixed it up and painted the whole thing orange... without removing any parts. Needless to say, the paint was not great on the drivetrain but I was about 10 years old at the time.

I have a 96 lava dome. I love it,but I can't run big wide tires on the rear....any advice??
@oldshovel3 күн бұрын
In the 90's most mountain bike tires were not larger than 2.0 inches wide. There were some 2.2's out there but they were considered large. Because of that, most bikes don't fit much more than a 2.2. On this build, I went with 2.2's there is room for larger. As to advice, there is not much you can do to fit fatter tires in a frame without some frame modifications...

I just did read the non-good-looking news about them , and am so relieved. They made so cultish bikes since the early 90s. And the Freeride-bikes that the guys in "New world disorder" and "Cranked" rode.... 😁

That’s great news about Kona, I used to have a Cinder Cone but sadly the frame broke and I went over to Trek because that’s what my local bike shop stocks and they’re great too, I found the handling between Trek and Kona is very similar but Kona definitely have way better paint options including this one you’ve just restored, that orange metallic is just the best colour 👍🏻🙂
