Congratulations on your move to Spain! I love hearing how different the day to day is there like the people not saying excuse me when they cut in front of you and things like their dinnertime, drinking patterns and bedtime routines. I love learning about different cultures & countries.

Don't use the dryer frequently because your energy bill can easily be 500 euros or higher your first month. Using the washing machine, the dishwasher and dryer daily will make you pay around a 1,000 to 2,000 euros monthly.

We went to Spain last year. We visited Barcelona, Sitges, Mallorca and Madrid and we fell in love with Madrid once we got off the train. I can’t wait for more of your Spain videos! You’ll figure out how to get around and all that and it definitely helps you speak Spanish already!

Hola! Nice to see you in Spain, all the best in the new adventure… and btw since you do groceries at Mercadona.. try the raviolis filled with parmesan and truffle and/or the butter squash they made.. the store branded, both are delicious!!!

I am Spanish. A cultural shock for me was when I travelled to Dublin (my first ever overseas trip) and people were constantly saying sorry, sorry for sneezing, sorry for walking too close to me, sorry for crossing the street, sorry for coughing, I was so overwhelmed 😂 Then I got used to it and I went back to Spain and I was apologising for everything and everyone was asking me what was wrong with me 😂 Just cultural differences!

Hola. Bienvenidos.

Love seeing day to day life in Spain through your eyes. Haven’t lived there in ages, but it’s so interesting to see how life is there vs US. Glad to hear you got all your bags back! ❤

Envy! !!! You have a El Cortes Ingles ...within walking distance! I LOVE that store; everything there is definitely a tick upward in the costs €€€ but they HAVE everything! Ours in Coimbra, Portugal is a half hour away and it is only the grocery store, so I shop at Continente and Pingo Doce, as it is just myself. Spain is SO different than Portugal, the streets are flatter (Coimbra -- 3/4 of the city is uphill over cobblestones :-( and Spain's big cities just radiate so much more bustle, sophistication and "city vibe" than in Portugal. I would live in A Coruna in a heartbeat. However, VISA D7 (retirement) was easier to get in Portugal than Spain, so here I am and there you are! WE NEED A HOUSE TOUR!

Hi Ale, what part of Spain did you move to?
@elvisjd710Күн бұрын
I know Ale would probably address these things at some point but for those of you wondering. Spain is a first world country, very developed, I would dare to say, even more developed than the US in many aspects. Their public transportation is one of the best in the world. I did my masters in Salamanca and I go to Spain anywhere from 2-3 times a year. Their healthcare system is very good. I had to have a procedure done and I went to pay, I paid only about 680 from the original 1100 I was quoted because they government subsidized some of it even though I am not from there. I mean the 1100 was already like 5x less than what it would have cost me here in the States. I would live in Spain in a heartbeat if it weren’t for the salaries. Obviously not everything is perfect but it’s a great place to live.

People are so “chismosos” or should I say “cotillas” like they say in Spain. Everyone asking her about their finances. The only thing I really want to know and see is your commuting to work from Spain. I saw a couple of videos of a girl that’s based in Miami and lives in London and it can be quite stressful, hopefully it’s easier for you. Buena suerte!

Wow! What an adjustment. Riding the bus. Guess I wouldn’t mind if it was just me but. You really are a trooper. You do what you need to do and you make it work. Seems your children are loving the adventure. I think it helps that you have family there and you speak the language. Yo go girl!

Hi Ale, I'm in the USA. Also, a fellow FA. Can you give advice on starting the ball rolling to move to another country? I want to move to CA. for retirement. So, the visa process seems hard to me. I'm only months from retirement age. I just always wanted to live there, no relatives or disire to further education there.

You should try local cafeterias for early breakfast, they open between 07 and 08 and offer a variaty of savoury and sweet stuff. In Spain locals get up pretty early
