Great Puzzle and as always, great tutorial. I have recently been watching videos on the Jejune Institute and the Latitude Society. It is basically a very detailed scavenger hunt but the creator calls the adventures "Urban Playground Movements" or "Alternate Reality Games." I don't think I have ever seen such detailed and immersive scavenger hunts. I was just wondering if you have ever created a scavenger hunt like those? They seem to be very similar to the movie "The Game" with Sean Penn.
@ConstructedAdventuresАй бұрын
Oh yeah! Big fan of ARGS. Me and my team have helped with a few. I like to say that what I do is like the Game, scaled back, not creepy. In truth, something like "The Game" is only possible because it was scripted in a movie. That said, I love diving into people's lives and creating a day that revolves around them.

I love this. If I were to use this in my own hunt, how would you recommend ensuring the hunter fold it the correct way, instead of backwards?
@ConstructedAdventures2 ай бұрын
you could always be clear on the first step (Fold back) However, as I was testing this, when someone folded wrong, they could still see the message, just upside down. The competitive ones would just figure it out upside down and everyone else would just re fold it the only other way to reveal the message. Hope that helps!

I nearly had a family member drive away even though I told them their property lines were the boundaries of the adventure! They thought(correctly) that the clue referred to their favorite diner, but they didn't even consider the diner memorabilia they had displayed in their home before grabbing their keys.
@ConstructedAdventures2 ай бұрын
It's ABSOLUTELY WILD where people's minds can go with clues and instructions! In the beginning, My clues were vague and opaque. At this point I'm MUCH more clear with instructions. I'd rather have my puzzle solve to give the location rather than mask the location and leave it up for interpretation. Hope it turned out great though!
@abbymorgan13982 ай бұрын
Great channel! How do you make a clue that leads to this cipher and what to do to solve it?
@ConstructedAdventures2 ай бұрын
There are many clues you can make to send to the location. If it is a plaque on a statue, you could have a zone on a map and a picture of the statue, then the numbers written on the back of the picture!

Awesome video! How do you start a hunt like this without being present? It seems very complicated to wrangle strangers into forming teams and starting the game at the same time.
@ConstructedAdventures3 ай бұрын
I had family there that helped to run it. Also with this one, the only people who got invites were friends and family. So a LOT of people knew each other for the friends that flew in, I got them in touch with other friends leading up to the event

Great Video. As a fan of scavenger hunts and as a person who has thrown similar hunts over the years, I love it when you post new videos. They are always very instructional and entertaining. I think I have watched all of your videos multiple times and I do not remember you mentioning the use of vellum paper to disclose the final location on the map. Very creative and it is similar to the your black light idea. I do not know if you have incorporated the following idea before in any of your hunts, but I like the concept/gambit of building the map itself during the hunt vis-a-vis a jigsaw puzzle. There are custom jigsaw puzzle websites out there that will let you upload a picture and they will create any size jigsaw puzzle. The idea is that the participants receive parts of the jigsaw puzzle at each location throughout the hunt, and at the second to last location, the participants will recieve the final pieces of the jigsaw puzzle which will obviously fill in the remainder of the map and disclose the final location. Chris, keep up the great work and I always look forward to your videos.

When I was a kid, my sister made a treasure map for my brother's birthday. We had to go through the cave (just a a Playschool tunnel), jump over the lagoon (over a blue blanket), things like that. This was my first introduction to adventure gaming, and I think it may have changed my life haha

now how do I teach this to someone I want to surprise with a treasure hunt...? 😅 First time I'm seeing this kind of cipher, pretty cool.
@ConstructedAdventures6 ай бұрын
Your best bet is starting with two words and making it simple. Another technique you could use is to start with all the instructions and then remove/mask most of the information. Essentially giving your player clues. Remember. you'd rather have this be too easy than too hard.

Hey, this is a great idea and I have made one for my upcoming adventure. My friends who I have tested it on found it very difficult to work out how to use the recipe. Do you have any ideas of a clue we can use on the recipe to assist them with working out the answer? Many thanks, love the channel
@ConstructedAdventures Жыл бұрын
Yeah this one is definitely tricky for anyone who's never used indexing before. My recommendation would be to have an indexing puzzle earlier in the hunt (Maybe the first step) where you literally explain it. Then write something at the bottom hinting that they might see it again)
