Neue Galerie presents provocative, thoughtful modern artists (Schiele, Gerstl, Beckmann), and offers intelligent, informed insights into their works and era. I am grateful that such a place persists. The café preserves atmosphere and tastes of a bygone era. A lovely spot in tune with New York’s psychoanalytic tradition. ❤

A completely extraordinary place. There are magnificent museums in New York, the Neue Gallery is just different. Wonderful video. Thank you so much.

It is interesting to note that artificial intelligence Perplexity estimated value of a still life painting by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner up to 17 millions euro .How fo think its fair price and possibility to sell or not?

Danke! 🫶🏻 I absolutely love art history and all the greats but Klimt is one of my favourites. Unmistakable style, moves your emotions and stuns you that such works of beauty could be painstakingly created. Have the XXL TASCHEN book of his lifes work. Get it or see it if you can, its circa £150 for a huge, beautifully detailed book. 🇮🇪 💜

Love Klimt but too bad this gallery not only doesn't do any reciprocal museum memberships but their price of even a single admission is unreasonably steep

It is an independent private museum.

I don't know if it has been pointed out before, but not that I know of, 4:27 The Rise of Photography and a new devotion to landscapes. In the early days of photography, landscape was a far easier subject to capture on film than a studio model and set-up, which dominated so many earlier canvases. The two forms in co-evolution makes so much sense in so many ways. Thank you for pointing in out.

I saw Klimt work in Austria. It was the first time I saw people crying in front of a canvas.

I also saw his paintings at The Belvedere ,in Vienna...first time I saw "Woman in Gold". I have since been at The Neue a few times, going there for the landscapes exhibit.

Beautifully presented exhibition; many thanks for this. Exquisite paintings, and I have learned so much of interest about Klimt and his times, especially during the years prior to WW1, the calm before the storm which brought catastrophe.

I trust you are following other museums e.g. the Norton Simon in Pasadena, CA in having all the works protected behind glass. You want to minimize the possibility of vandalism. Take care of yourself and the Klimt works.

And so Great that the curator shows images and really talks about them - its such a fine and wonderfull exhibition of the beauty of gardens and landscapes - something we all know and immediately recognize and rejoice in and yet something painted in a very special way - I would love to see these paintings in reality. 🙏for this treasure of a video of Klimt Landscape paintings 🎵💚🧡🖤🩶🤍🩵🎶

A safe satellite Gallery in upstate would be incredible. The Neue is just too important.
@MTMF.londonАй бұрын
What do you mean a "safe" satellite gallery? The Neue Gallerie is an independent private museum and has proper security in place. I don't think its permanent collection is not large enough to split into two separate museums.

In my personal opinion, Klimt's landscapes, especially the ones painted in the latter years of his life, are his best. I guess it's because he painted these masterpieces without a thought to anyone but himself! I hope I'll be able one day to see this exhibition soon, I've only seen a few, at the Leopold in Vienna, which have only whetted my appetite for more.

Fun fact... Austria is named after the ostrich. Österreich is the austrian name for Austria. Ostrich... Österreich... I'm sure that even the simplest among you can see the connection. Fun fact... Austria is also where kangaroos come from. Austria... land of ostriches and kangaroos and koalas and surfing and going walkabout.

Not sure about your claim of kangaroos coming from Austria. They are marsupials indigenous to Australia and New Guinea. They, along with wallabies, Tasmanian devils evolved from a common marsupial ancestor from South America.
